Retired Numbers- Your list?

Which numbers do you think should be retired, in order of most deserving? And if we scrap the retired numbers on account of not having enough left, then it could be, who should make the Patriots Hall of Fame, in which order? I believe, for one, you get a better chance if you stay with the team.

My list.

First, put a sleeveless hoodie next to the retired numbers.

1. Tom Brady. And we should also retire #s 10, 11, 13, and 14, just because they are in the vicinity of #12.

2. Troy Brown. Far from the greatest player in Patriots history, but maybe the most selfless, versatile, clutch, and appreciated.

3. Richard Seymour. The anchor the dynastic defense... likely going to Canton.

4. Tedy Bruschi. Represents all the good of the team. Tough, modest, better player than his statistics.

5. Rodney Harrison. The HGH scandal tarnishes his image, but what a true Patriot. Great leader, great player.

6. Mike Vrabel. See Tedy Bruschi.

7. Willie McGinest. All-time NFL leader in post-season stats. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him wearing the blue and silver again before he retires.

8. Adam Vinatieri. You can't talk about 3 Super Bowl wins without mentioning #4. But because of his bitter departure, they might not retire it.

9. Ty Law. Was the best corner if football, and huge in Super Bowl 36.

10. Randy Moss. Yeah, it's really early, but he's already done more than most have accomplished in years. Give him 4 years in New England and he'll be remembered for all-time as the greatest receiver in Pats' history. His name is ALREADY in the record books in several categories, and his presence this year has had a historical impact. I don't want to be the Yankees and want to retire every number, but putting him on here is just a tribute to how incredible he has been, and hopefully, will continue to be.

Honorable Mentions: Kevin Faulk, Larry Izzo, Matt Light, Dan Koppen

Other than Brady, Brown, and Bruschi, I disagree withe rest of your list. Retiring of numbers is reserved for the best of the best. But you could put the rest of your list into the Patriots HoF.

My opinion on Sey could change based on how the rest of his Pats career goes.

No way. Retired numbers are the highest from of honor given to someone. I don't think 10 players should have their number retired.... Maybe they could be enshrined into Pats Hall of fame, but number retired? Come on.

You list many deserving players, but with this many retired numbers the Patriots would literally not be able to assign numbers to all their active players during the preseason.

I'm in favor of adding numbers up to 199 (and requiring that any rookie [or other player without a credited season] not selected in the first three rounds of the draft use a three digit jersey). Then we could do this.

If not, my list of retired numbers is as follows:

12: Brady - the only indispensable player of the dynasty

BB: Belichick - not only was he indispensable, but he doesn't use up a number

54: Bruschi - Sadly the heart and soul of our team won't make it to Canton, but he deserves immortality ahead of many who will.

Just call them the three Bs

#12, that's all. The rest (as of now, I'd have 4, 80, and 54, we'll see on Seymour, and to me Vrabel is a toss up) can go in the Patriots HoF, nothing more.

Retired numbers are reserved for the best of the best, even guys who end up in the Pro Football HoF don't necessarily deserve the Pats HoF (Randy Moss, depending on how much longer he plays with the Pats, is a great example of this, imo).

That said, there should be a shrine encasing the #12 banner, with a slogan at the bottom: GREATEST QB EVER...just so everyone knows that from 2001-??? we saw true perfection.

Would you really retire half the teams numbers...? That's just silly

Only #12 should be retired at this time.

I'm definitely in favor of retiring 12. I think you pretty well have to do that. I would give a solid maybe to Troy Brown. I'd like to see that, but I can see the arguments against as well.

The others definitely have a place in the Pats HoF, but I don't think anybody else should be retired. (I mean, if BB had a number, him too.)

Im in favor of not retiring numbers except #12. No one will ever be able to use that number ever again. There can be only one #12. They should put a #12 statue in front of the main gate in the Razor. Not a Brady statue, just literally a #12 statue (the digits). If you dont know who that is you are in the wrong place. period.

#12: Tom Ramsey deserves his number retired.

Seriously, right now I'd go with #12 as a lock, then would seriously consider #80 and #54, but any others would be only casually considered at this point. Retiring a number should be reserved for the best of the best and as much as I love several of the Pats players both past and present, I'm not sure they met the high bar retirement of their jerseys should meet.

just because he's not with us anymore doesn't mean 55 shouldn't be retired.

Willie was the only guy (thus far!) to be with us for all 4 super bowls in the Kraft era.

I'd vote for 12, 80, 55, and possibly 54 and 93 depending on the rest of their careers. given the memories associated with him, i'd be hard pressed to vote against #4 as well. Everything else is pure speculation.

Brady might insist that, at the very least, his entire O-line gets inducted into the Pats HOF.

i really feel that moving forward you should have to finish your career with NE in order to get your number retired.

Retiring numbers in football is hard to do, and quite honestly, could some day present problems. With a 53 man roster, and an availability till only 99, retiring numbers has to be done with only the most deserving of players. The better bet is for teams to have a "Ring of Fame" like I think they do in Buffalo or someplace. Retire the name, leave the numbers alone.
