Video of Mike Pereira on Ellis Hobbs PI

Geez guys, Pereira basically states that in the Jets game, that should have been "bang, bang" and incomplete. Stated that since the refs called it a catch and fumble on the field, and replay showed two feet and control, they couldn't reverse. In the next segment, admits that Morency should not have been accountable for the kick. They ruled forward pass, incomplete, but the delay of game should not have been tacked on. You guys make it sound like he never goes awry of the original calls. On the Hobbs call, although it was pretty close, and could have been a no call, contact was made before Hobbs turned to look for the ball, Wayne is obviously playing the ball, bucket, you get flagged. Bunch a friggin' whiners is all I see here.

Get lost. Why are you still lurking on a Patriots board, loser. Get the F outta here, bildo.

WOW ARE YOU KIDDING ME?, Ellis Hobbs received a written apology from the NFL after they literally screwed the Pats ON ANOTHER HORRIBLE PI CALL in the AFCCG, A WRITTEN APOLOGY, IT HANDED THE COLTS 7 BOGUS POINTS. ODDLY ENOUGH WITH THE SAME TWO PARTIES INVOLVED (HOBBS AND WAYNE).
Written apology as reported by a Pats site? Look, the calls were not the best, granted. What Pereira does (as someone else has stated) is try to interpret what he feels the officials on the field saw at the time of the play. It was a mere milli second, but Hobbs DOES impede Wayne before he looks for the ball. IMO, should have been a no call. But I learned long ago to take what they give you. Pats have for years, no apologies. Funny how you think you are being screwed all the way to 16-0!!

I put this in another thread but it bears repeating here, I guess-

Mike Pereira's explanation of the Hobbs PI penalty was not one of emphatic support. He justifies the call by ASKING viewers whether Hobbs was turned around before Hobbs made contact with Wayne. Mike Pereira (head of NFL officials) answers his own question by saying, "I don't think so." Huh?

Before he ran the clip of the play, Pereira had implied that the call was a "classic" case of cutting off a receiver's route illegally; then he shows the play and gives the limp wrist endorsement above. Even allowing for the fact that fallible human judgement is required on any penalty call, this was the weakest validation of one of his refs I've ever seen.

Meanwhile the referees missed a ton of calls/penalties on the Colts:

Referees signaling Aaron Moorehead's catch in bounds
Dallas Clark mauling Rodney Harrison on the interception attempt
Gary Brackett mauling Kevin Faulk on screen pass attempt
Referees spotting the ball an extra yard, rewarding the Colts a faux first down
Aaron Moorehead clipping on Rashad Baker during Joseph Addai's long run
Antoine Bethea interfering with Randy Moss on the deep post pattern
Colts offensive lineman ripping Rosevelt Colvin's helmet completely off
Colts defense simulating Patriots offensive snap count

I was watching the game at my brothers house...and when they came back from the commercial....by bro came back into the room to ask me what was the down and distance....and I said, Second and about 2 yards.

1st and 10 Colts....I had to rewind the DVR......thinking I must have missed a play. You have got to be kidding me.

I rewatched the game yesterday.....and it looks like they gave Addai another yard and a half....The Pats got jobbed on that spot...big time.

No - the broadcast had the yellow line in the wrong spot. It was the fault of CBS. It is possible to figure this from previous threads on Sunday night but also looking at the tape and then looking at where the drive started on 1st down two plays earlier.

Remember Moss being called for offensive pass interference in the 4th? What a crock of sh!t.

My problem is with the line judge waiving the chain gang on (indicating a 1st down) even before the ball was spotted. As he was coming into the pile to spot the ball, he was clearly inside the 12 yard line, but somehow the ball ended up at the 12.

I understand "rounding up" sometimes to a marked line on the hash. Makes bookkeeping for the officials a little easier. However you obviously don't do it if the 1st down yardage is in question.

Bad spots happen. Farging up the process, which could have contributed to the sequence of events leading up to Addai's TD, is just another turd-ball thrown at the Pats from this crew.

Hey sh!t for brains... go away.

No one listens to anything you have to say... which isn't much.

Anyone have Pereira's email address handy?

I watched the same thing myself on the Network last night and I almost puked all of the TV.

I hope that TV had puke-resistance sprayed on the screen.

Referees signaling Aaron Moorehead's catch in boundsAgree, Pats should not have had to waste a red flag on that one
Dallas Clark mauling Rodney Harrison on the interception attemptAftr being mauled first, plus drive ended in missed FG
Gary Brackett mauling Kevin Faulk on screen pass attempt3rd and 20, good luck getting that call ever
Referees spotting the ball an extra yard, rewarding the Colts a faux first downColts gained additional first downs on that drive. Referee came in from back side(opposite camera side)looked like a bad spot, but again, that was a second down play to begin with
Aaron Moorehead clipping on Rashad Baker during Joseph Addai's long runThat was the absolute farthest thing from a clip you'll ever see. Your man was flying in from midfield toward sideline, whiffed on Addai, Morehead made very slight contact with shoulder, but Addai was long gone, brother. You are starting to look stupid, even your own MB buddies won't back this one
Antoine Bethea interfering with Randy Moss on the deep post patternWas that second half? Not seen that yet. What was the result of the series?
Colts offensive lineman ripping Rosevelt Colvin's helmet completely offHarrison ripped Lilja's off in the second series down inside the 5, IIRC
Colts defense simulating Patriots offensive snap countAt the very end of game?? HA!! Probably just practicing his Vrabel impression

FWIW, IMO, Colts got 2 bad spots in a row on 1st and goal from the nine. Keith runs inside down close to the two. Ball spotted at three. Then Addai runs one, get a yard and a half, ball is still at the three. Correct spots there, and Manning might sneak it in from the 1/2 yard line.

First half, Addai catch and run to the right, to the sticks, but they mark it short. Lot of stuff happens, no game is 100% perfect. Oh, almost forgot. Looked like Stallworth lined up offsides in the first half. I realize the blue line is not official, but if you see Stall, his foot is pretty much over the line. You follow the line to the ball, and it appears to me he lined up offsides. NE ends up with a first down IIRC, a proper call there could have stalled that first TD drive of NE.

I assume if I watch second half (gonna be tough), I might find some more stuff. You guys won, congrats, chill.

So Mike the hack's logic is if an offensive player makes contact with a defensive player and the defensive player is not looking for the ball it is defensive pass interference. Based on that it should be very easy to get such a penalty. The call in the Jets Skins game was not much better. Glad at least this guy does not ref.

He agreed the Jet s call was probably the wrong one. But based on the call on the field, and the replay, they could not justify reversing it.
