I was listening to Sports broadcaster Sam Kouvaris on the radio just now, and he said the fallowing (paraphrasing):

"Those who are claiming the Colts don't pipe in sound are either ignorant (to the situation) or lying", Sam then went on to say "I've been in the RCA dome a bunch of times, it's ridiculously load, and you can tell they're pumping in sound through their PA". He also went on to say that it's just part of their homefield advantage, and he didn't think it was a big deal.

Didn't you see?
Polian reiterated his denial.

LOL, who is this guy and what's his proof, wow let it go, hilarious?

It won't get the pick or 750k back.

or

Wait, hit it again its still moving... No I think its dead.... No hit it again.

wow let it go

I agree it is a dead issue in this case, but what if the Colts are found to have piped crowd noise through their PA system during games last year, this year or in the future. What do you think the penalty should be? Would that tarnish their championship?

Dude, everyone in the league knows they do it. It's okay for you to admit it. It's a dome team tradition for many a year now.

I could care less about the 750K. That pick, however, IS comin' back.

Thank you San Francisco! Your ineptitude may be giving us two late first rounders this year!

(P.S. Speed: Watch this week's HBO Inside the NFL - - look at Peter King's face when he talks about the SF pick - - and how BB/Pioli absolutely ripped off the Niners - -he can't believe that the Pats 1st round penalty is now being rendered moot).

(P.P.S. Speed: Eat yer heart out, baby!) :D

If this is true, then it IS A HUGE DEAL.
It is a direct violation of the rules, is even worse than sideline videotape because it helps the team during the game, and Goodell comes off looking like a fraud if this is proven to be true and the Colts aren't slapped with a huge penalty.

Why are you on a Patriots board? Really. We just beat you and probably will not play again this year. So, go to a Colt board and join in the ***********. You are not a Patriot fan. This is a Patriot fan board.

The loss of the pick isn't exactly moot given that there was still thievery on the part of the NFL against us - that said, if you look at the value of what most here expected our two #1s to beat the start of the season, that would be about #20 and #32. Using a generic draft value chart that gives us 1,440 points of value which is squarely between the #7 and #8 picks. Right now we're at #4 which is a generic value of 1,800. That 360 point difference would be worth the 22nd pick of round 2.

So the #4 that we "have" right now is said to be worth the #20, #32 (about what many expected on opening day) + the #85. Not bad, not bad at all.

p.s. I'm not a big believer in the draft value charts but it's the easiest way to show that we're better off now than we expected on opening day even with the #1 being stolen.

I would have no idea what the penalty would be?

I would guess that several people would talk about * just to get a rise out of Colts fans and THEN keep doing it for several more weeks because the colts organization and fans continue to get mad about it. WHEN in all reality, um where would an * really go and who would put it there???

The asterick is kinda like not a real thing in the record books or at least not really being considered in this situation..... hypothetically that is, but I'd still keep getting really defensive and upset about it, because well I'd, underneath it all, realize it is a pretty big deal to cheat AND wouldn't condone it personally in private, but can't admit that so I just would overly defend it through conspiracy, minimize it by saying everybody does it, blame an ex coach, or simply say I didn't understand the rule.

Hypothetically that is how I would handle it. :)

The NFL could catch a Colts employee adjusting the speakers to give them a better advantage and would do nothing about it. That's a fact.

They turned up the heat, they pumped in noise, they got all the calls, and the Patriots still won. :singing:

***********. fan board.

Is this the reference that I mentioned as being a
"good one", not name calling referencing the previous quote.

Don't care about the asterick. I would love to have the Pats 1st round pick back with a huge asterick next to it. You can even tatoo an asterick on the player selected with the pick.

I'm not sure how you couldn't have at least some idea of what a fitting penalty would be for enhancing crowd noise. Let's make it simple...should it be exactly what the Pats got for violatingoperatingproceduresgate? More (more draft picks, bigger fine, suspension)? Less (lower draft pick, smaller fine, reprimand)? Nothing?

So because a stadium is loud --> He thinks it must be pumped in --> Makes it true

Good one.

At least the guys shooting the game for the TV station had an highly knowledgeable, announymous CIA opperative err I mean security guard when he made his claims. So now we've moved onto "just because I think it is, makes it so"?

I guess all those whispers/claims that the Patriots were putting mics on their d-linemen to get audibles must be true too, right?

This is the problem with punnishing the Patsies in such a public way, now everybody is looking for the next "Cheating" story. The NFL has always been a league full of shady characters. The stories about stealing play books and kidnapping players so they wouldn't sign with rival leagues are legendary. So Roger takes a bat to the Patriots, screws them over pretty good, and creates a monster. Already this year we had the Pats, remember the Jets immitating snap counts, the Colts piping crowd noise in, the comments from Parcells to Young that the 49ers used to shut off communications between the booth and the sidelines during the scripted portion of the show.

This is a case of "You get what you deserve". The Pats were wrong, no doubt, but a first and $750K worth? I doubt it, but hey, you really do get what you deserve, especially when you do something so stupid I guess. Now everybody in the press is looking to break the next big story, what is worse is that there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the next big one is out there, it just has to be found. The new sherrif decided to preform a public flogging and now there is a blood lust throughout the NFL community.

Does Indy pump sound noise through their building? My guess is of course they do, as does every other dome team and maybe Denver and KC. It is a very low risk/high reward trick. So the Patsies get to beat the hell out of the rest of the league as revenge for them ganging up on them, they get to thumb their nose at Roger by running up the score, they get the SF pick next year, and it looks like it could be a top 10 pick. The Press gets to demonize the Patsies, they get to poke a stick at the bees nest that is the NE Patriots and at the same time they get to do what they do best, rumor monger.

The NFL is a not a league of men who follow the rules, as a matter of fact they pride themselves on the fact that they don't. Whatever edge can be gained should be gained. It is the reason why Belichick would break the rules to track trends and it is reason enough to pipe crowd noise through the PA. I once heard Tuna tell the assembled press that "It isn't a penalty until you get caught". Turer words have never been spoken about the NFL.

Don't care about the asterick. I would love to have the Pats 1st round pick back with a huge asterick next to it. You can even tatoo an asterick on the player selected with the pick.

How great would it be if the entire 2007 team got an asterisk tattoo as a sign of solidarity...I think it would be kind of neat. Or they could have AD make some more T-Shirts with an asterisk on it.

So now we've moved onto "just because I think it is, makes it so"?

I guess all those whispers/claims that the Patriots were putting mics on their d-linemen to get audibles must be true too, right?

Gee, workhorse....I seem to recall many Colts fans making that exact leap while piling on about the video camera.

All we heard was:

"And the Pat's mic'd up their players"....."The Pats were messing with the radio signals to the QB".....blah, blah, blah.

All because someone "thought" that's what was happening.

And don't dismiss all this "piped in crowd noise" speculation so quickly. Keep in mind, there were all those "reports" in prior seasons about the Pat's using their video camera, but nothing "official" came of it until this year.

So, perhaps it won't be this year, or maybe even next. However, if Polian is going to be so arrogant as to wire up the Colts new stadium with even better mic's (it is going to have a retractable roof, correct?), it's only a matter of time before they're exposed.

All it takes is to get that one pebble rolling down the hill......and the Colts are sitting at the bottom of that avalanche.

And you know it.
