As we all know by now, the main motivation for the Pats season was provided by Cameragate and it's coverage in the media and the reactions through the league and fandom.

The almost universal accusations of cheating and tarnished legacies has infuriated the players and provoked an almost inhuman desire to humiliate anyone and everyone who stands in the Pats way.

What has stoked this reaction?

The Victim Complex.

The Urban Dictionary defines a Victim Complex as...

victim complex

1. When a person pretends to be the victim in a situation but in reality they are complicit in the events taking place.

2. When a person presents a situation in which they appear to be the victim of other people's actions when in reality they were not. At all.

The whole "everyone is slandering us and disrespecting our achievements" card is powerful stuff. It drives people to superhuman efforts to regain their sense of self worth and the value of their previous accomplisments.

Unfortunately, the Victim Complex can also have a dark side.

Paranoia, hostility and a desire to do unto others before they do it to you can easily be self-justified by the embrace of a righteous victimhood.

Oh, the victim will sit all night with you as long as you meekly listen to their tale of woe. They'll love you for your sympathy and agreement that their enemies are bad people.

But dare to point out that the victim carries a percentage of responsibility of their own fate and watch how fast they turn on you.

Victims, real or not, tend over time to lose the support of everyone who was ever consciously concerned about their well being.

So, I'd be careful if I were you guys.

Embracing victimhood is a double edged sword that will slay your enemies for a while but if indulged in too long winds up poisoning the victim himself.

Wasn't this guy just banned? Now he's trying to repost the SAME post under another username. Mayhap an IP ban will be needed. Your call mods.

Different Bills fan, same credible post. I abhor your leaderships fascism.

What's the problem? He's trying to pass amateur psychobabble off as something profound. Ignore him.

Who gives a sh!t it WORKS

Only if you neglect that there is an inherent Faustian deal. But you wouldn't do that right? That would be ignorant.
I realize that your trying to impress us all with your intelligence. Are WE feeling a little self esteem challanged or challanged in other area's  HMM. Are you trying to boost your ego by posting this psych 101 material on this board.? Anyways one cannot equate using negative comments,or disrespect as a motivational tool, with selling ones soul to the devil. People do it all the time. My guess is at some point in you life you were made to feel dumb, someone said you wern't smart, you had to prove yourself to your parents who said you wern't going to amount to anything, etc.etc.etc. Why else would you come here and try to dazzle us with your brilliance. HMMM ;)

I've already stated why I am here. 2nd post.

Honestly, there may be a little motivation. But you still have to put the players out on the field. So talk, well just does not cut it. You have to walk the talk.

The addition of Moss, Welker, Stallworth, and AD may have a little (a lot) more to do with it. Plus with Brady at the helm, well, you know.

So most of us Pats fans are really growing tired of this cheating stuff talk. If I hear the word class one more time I am going to gag.

I really, really hope we win the next 5 SB's just to shut you fools up. I never used to feel this way, but the nonsense from this is just so over the top, you just want to say, well, you know.

Shut up already.

Your verbiage is still screaming LOOK AT ME. I'm smart.

You sure you're reading me correctly? Sounds like you're reflecting your own insecurites.

Anyway, this thread is intended to engage discussion, not levels of humility.

Let's see. Motivational psychology. We have Bill Belichick, and we have Aaronthebaron. I think I'm going with Belichick's plan.

But thanks for playing :D

I sometimes give trolls a break, but when they post such mindless BS as this, they should be banned. Moderators, can you ban this guy for the inability to make an intellegent post?

Go back to school kid.

Aaron, you are missing the point. No one here wants to engage in a discussion of how sinful we are. Does that make any sense to you?? Enlighten yourself.

Belichick was caught doing something that was done many times by many coaches who said it made little or no difference. Was he wrong, sure. Did Kraft call him on the carpet, yes. Did we pay the fines and penalties, yes. Did it make much of a difference, no.

Now what more do you want??? Hang on heads in shame???

The media and fans from other teams on this message board will just not let it go. Every week, something else to find. It is just so old and so tired -- no one is listening anymore. And our coach, players and fans are getting the fur up on our back -- get it??

Me, I want to kick the crap out of every team we play. That is how sick I am of it. Shut up already. Surely there is someone on almost any message board other than the Pats that would drool at your thoughts.

Go away.

It's not my post. I am re-posting a relevant thread.

"Out, out, brief candle!" I'll get over a ban, but for what TOS violation would I be banned for? Are the possible negative repercussions of Cameragate taboo here?

"Victim" is a media meme. You're repeating it with your psedu-intellectual post.

It's nonsense. Show me one time when anyone on the Patriots said anything about it. THey are too busy practicing, playing etc, just like in previous years. To them, the whole "running up the score", "victim", blah blah blah, it's all irrelevent. As it should be.

So, in short, you're a fool and should be beaten.

heh...now THAT is my kind of Pats fan
