I honestly think LT's a douchebag even for bothering to SAY that. You're not an elite team? Gee...REALLY?

That's a pretty classy statement from a pretty classy guy, who'll be the first one to tell that himself....... (tongue firmly in cheek in case anyone wondered)

:agree: The smartest thing said on this thread.

No the smartest thing to say is Norv "I couldnt coach my way out of a paper bag"Turner. Charger fans need to look no further then the piece of garbage trolling the sidelines as the reason why they are underachieving! Him and his band of rejects that he hired are the reason why the chargers seem to do nothing but spin their wheels this year, no charger fans seemed to complain last year when he was winning them 14 games!

Ummmm...norv wasn't on our staff last year. It was Marty Schottenheimer. No I wasn't complaining when he was winning us 14 games last year. I was the first to say what a dumba** AJ was for canning him. They had personal problems. AJ has been nothing but trouble for us. I wish they would can HIM. No excuses here. Why hate on LT? What did he do that was so wrong? Get upset because the pats disrespected his teammate on his turf. Yeah that is so unacceptable. Name any other time when he expressed dismay towards the opposition.

This is my impression of the Chargers: TALK TALK TALK - lose. TALK TALK - lose. SHOW HUMILITY - win. SHOW HUMILITY, CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC - win. BELIEVING IN OURSELVES enough to TALK TALK TALK - lose again.

SHUT UP, LT.

they screwed up when they let their entire coaching staff go.

now they are a rudderless ship and the immaturity of their stars makes things worse. The only team with stars that are more immature are the Bengals.

I think they might still take the division just cuz there's nobody good to beat them, but they won't beat any strong teams. Their little 'streak' wasn't them getting it together - it was them getting easy opponents - lol !!

what frauds.

I was talking about the qb!

What excuses? Yeah we were horrible but no excuses were made.

I think many of the Patriot fans in this thread have a longer memory that what happened on Sunday. They're referring to LT's comments that he made the night before they played the Patriots in week 2 and then reiterated after the game, that the Chargers would beat the Patriots 9 times out of 10. There was also the comment when down 24-0 at halftime by a Charger player (I don't know who) that "we have them where we want them".

These don't qualify as excuses. They do qualify as idiotic. And these aren't the only examples.

Am I the only one who thought this thread was going to be LT opening his yap again to say WE (the Pats) aren't an elite team?

Now starring as capt. Obvious..... LaDanian Tomlinson!!!!!!

Seriuosly though, SD is clearly lacking leadership and discipline. Their players talk and whine too much to the media.

Plus, like a lot of other teams, they think they are much better than they are. This, I believe, is why a team like the Pats is always successful. They play hard, their stars are humble, and they know that they must earn everything they get.

Ego is killing the Bengals, it is slowly killing SD, and I am starting to see it on the Cowboys. The NFL is such a tough league, you must earn everything you get. Nothing will ever be handed to you.

only thing consistent about the chargers is that the players and coaches dont find solutions to their problems and keep talking about intensity and being flat and 'beat elite teams' and "try and get into the playoffs and see what happens".
this team has no proper focus...it gets psyched up with 1 win as world beaters and 1 loss they struggle to find answers and come up with all BS excuses.
They are the saddest thing in football. A group of talented players who cannot function as a team. Marlon Macree still defends not falling to the ground in the playoff game last year, and says every time he gets a chance to score a TD, he will try. The players are looking out for thier own glory, and it cost them the game. Contrast this with the pick Brady threw at the end of the playoff game against the Colts. I forget who intercepted Brady. I think it was Marlin Jackson, but whoever it was took a couple steps, realized what he was doing, and fell to the ground. Game over.

You have to want to win more than gather stats. The Chargers haven't learned this yet.

When you get rid of your showoff, big mouth players who want to win games more than to be noticed by the media, you will do better.

What excuses?
They cannot accept that they need to get better. They read too many newspapers and believe they should win because the press says how great they are.

Biggest example is the end of hte playoff game. They got beat. Do they take in the feeling of being beat, and use it to get better and next time beat the Pats.

No, they sidestep all responsibilty for the defeat, and focus on a dance mocking Merriman. Hey, guys, you weren't beaten by a dance. In the final moment ou were beaten by Marlon Macree and his stupid run, but you should have run up a LOT of points on us. Your team needed to look within and find out what it takes to win on the field.

Instead the chose to look for something outside to focus on, like a dance. Your team is a bunch of buffoons. T.O. mocked Ray Lewis's chicken dance. Does Ray Lewis cry to the press? No, he does his talking on the field.

The Chargers spent all off-season saying, "We play you 10 times, we win 9" and other crap when they should have been getting better." No surprise to me they suck this year.

Face it, your team is a bunch of prima donnas who think the other team should roll over and surrender when they show up.

You are 4-4 and will be 4-5 after teh Colts get through with your bunch of crybabies.

Come back when you have a real team to talk about. At least you'll have a great draft pick next year. Consider getting a QB.

Tomlinson: 'We're not an elite team'
By Kevin Acee

November 6, 2007

Whatever the Chargers were building crumbled on the Metrodome floor.

“We find ourselves back in the same position we were a few weeks ago,” LaDainian Tomlinson said yesterday.

Winners of three straight – with ease – the Chargers are mired again in a bog of questions about potential vs. reality.

“We were on a little bit of a mini-roll, and we were getting better,” head coach Norv Turner said. “We did take a step back.

...

The Colts are going to run Addai all over them on Sunday. Merriman could find himself feeling sick again pertty soon.

In other words, they're friggin LOSERS! Couldn't happen to a better team...them and the Jets...goin down together...Boo...Hoo!

That dude will say anything just to be saying something.

He is a little late to the party, because everyone else realized this a while ago.

I think people grossly over-rated how good Phillip Rivers is. The kid doesn't do a good job of recognizing what the defense is doing and adjusting. He is fine if San Deigo is ahead because they can dictate to the defense, but when the defense disguises things he doesn't do well. Teams have the book on him now.

They should have kept Brees.

What excuses? Yeah we were horrible but no excuses were made. This team is obviously frustrated with themselves. You don't hear them crying about having to re-build under a new coaching staff. You don't hear them cry about injuries. "BS excuses"...quote one. Heres some for ya...

“We got our (rear ends) kicked,” said linebacker Shawne Merriman

“We've got to find a way to get back to playing successful football,” Tomlinson said.

“We're playing inconsistent football,” General Manager A.J. Smith said. “I don't know what to say about it. I don't have any answers.

Excuses? Riiiight.
