Welker is good on returns. Very consistent against weak special teams. I bet between now and the end of the season you will see welker return at least one for a touchdown.

Welker turned the tide of Sunday's game with his punt and KO returns in the 2nd half. He's got a special first move.

Welker is not Good on returns, he is fantastic. That guy is like a pinball. So hard to tackle.

As Brady put it, Welker's a small enough target as it is . . . and then once he starts running, he somehow becomes an even smaller target. :)

But here's an interesting question--why has Belichick started games off with Hobbs at KR, and then later in the game switch over to Welker?

Nah, I don't think he's fast enough. He's quick enough to dodge and consistently gain nice yardage, but he can't run away from faster corners and receivers.

Hobbs is a faster returner and a greater threat to break one. Welker is a different animal, more Kevin Faulk or Troy Brown like. Shifty, consistent.

Welker's first move is fantastic. He gets so much separation from the defender, he's totally free to add on secondary moves to make other guys miss. He's got the best first move in the game, maybe.

Zimmerman in SI calls him the greatest hot receiver in NFL history, btw.

I have a feeling that Wes will take a couple to the house before the season is over. He is a great returner. He looks for his lane and hold on the ball during contact.

Welker is a terrific punt returner, not an electric KR. He's very sure handed, shifty, and tough to bring down in traffic. He's not a breakaway guy like Hobbs (or Chad Jackson, soon perhaps?)

But the entire ST coverage and return units have been phenomenal all year. On Willie Andrews' TD return, a couple of players commented on how the whole play ran exactly the way they'd practiced for a kick of that sort. And the Colts were hard pressed to bring a KO past the 20. As a team, the Pats rank #1 in the league in KR avg, #6 in PR avg. Good stuff.
