Is brady the best ever?I think he is if he wins another superbowl he would be the greatest of all time.he almost got to the superbowl last year with no wide recievers.

He could win another 3 SB and there still wouldn't be a consensus that he's the greatest ever. Hell, there are still people who think he's a system QB out there. That said, I already think that he might be; if he finishes this year even half as well as he's started and they win the SB, I'll be confident that he is.

Although Brady never had a guy like Jerry Rice you still have to say Joe Montana has been the best QB in history thus far - If Brady goes on to win this year and then wins a 5th in a few years from now ,then definately he will earn the right for best ever,I can't concede that right now,no matter how good he is - Montana was a beast and if you are 30 or older you know what Joe did almost every game when he was in his prime.

Montana was the main reason why Jerry Rice is the best WR ever although Rice was pretty damn good anyway but it helps having a HOFer throw you the ball.

Brady takes a step up into a 2nd place tie with Bradshaw,Unitas and Staubach for 2nd best ever if he wins another ring.

He moves into a 1st if he ever gets #5 and pushes Montana into 2nd best with the others

Who knows where Manning will end up?

Randy Moss this year is the closest dominating WR Since I had the pleasure of watching Jerry Rice at his best in 1989 - No WR in my lifetime was any greater than Rice during that season but Moss is looking pretty darn good in 2007.

Brady To Moss
Montana To Rice - Almost too scary close to comparison between the two

It's funny because even with all the talk (like Mortimer saying Favre is MVP) after this week, I was convinced THIS WEEK that Brady was the best ever.

I can't name a single other quarterback ever that would have won the game this last week. Not in that stadium, under that much pressure, and with an officiating crew that's clearly on the take for the other guy. Who else would've won that? Montana? Mayyyyybe. But I'm not sold on that. I think perhaps the couple of hits Brady took would've been enough to disrupt even Joe Cool the rest of that game. (Remember, he wasn't a huge guy. His whole thing was missing the first tackle and getting rid of the ball. He was durable, but man some of those hits...)

Brady. Best ever. IMO.

Brady will go down as one of the best. He's not Joe Montana though. Joe was just off the charts in his ability to make plays.

Usually if not almost everytime a person in this forum states that Brady is the best ever NOW - Is because of one of 3 things...

1) Under 30 years of age and never saw Montana in LIVE game action
2) Over 30 but hated football in the 80s or lived under a rock during this era
3) Is Totally blind of Montana's contributions to the NFL and the QB position because he was NOT a Patriot but a 49er

If SF and NE switched uniforms and Montana was QB for the Pats and not the 49ers back then we would not have this conversation right now.

Brady is in a TIE for 2nd with Bradshaw,Staubach and Unitas if you ask me,Manning is not far behind and some others not mentioned like Starr

I think it's crazy talk to involve Brady in the best of all time discussion.

not ridiculous to "discuss" it. 3 sb attest to that. and many clutch performances in those sb runs.

With their playoff records I think Brady and Montana could be considered the most clutch. Would Montana have won three rings with the receivers Tom had? We'll never know. Besides Rice, Montana had Clark and Taylor. And Young won a couple with those great receivers.

I think this season casts a new light on Brady. It's obvious now how important having a great receiver or two makes, and all the great QBs had that, with the possible exception of Elway.

Now that Brady has the weapons that Montana had, and he goes about shattering records, if we win the SB this year - his 4th - then it's totally legit to be talking about him as the greatest. Not everyone will agree, but the stats would be in are in his favor, and he has equal style points and intangibles with any of the great QBs.

hard to say where Brady will stand, as he has not retired.. when he does then we will all look at a complete body of evidence.. kinda premature right now, but he is in the top 5, close to the top.

.

It sure does cast a new light. I thought Brady was already in this conversation BEFORE Moss, Stallworth and Welker. I think having played with sub par receivers last year and 2 tier recievers prior to that in Givens, Brown and Branch, have made him even that much better. With great top tier recievers he is now showing a whole other side of his passing ability, accuracy and courage to chuck the ball down the field and into sometimes triple coverage. He was always known as the smart QB, good decision maker and he still is, but now he has the confidence to take chances and look what he has become! He is now a stat machine, but with the clutch factor that so few QB's have had in the history of the NFL. He really has it all - he is special.

Brady has the talent/ability to be any QB you need him to be on any given Sunday. He literally morphs into a different QB based on what he is facing in terms of defenses, distractions (such as crowd noise, bad officiating), inclimate weather, and being behind in the 4th Qtr. Brady just has 'IT' - that cool, calm demeanor to put it all on the line, calm down his entire team, and lead them to win the game when down in the 4th Qtr.

Just when I think I have seen all Brady can give and what I think he is all about, he shows me more. That kid is amazing! I am thankful that I am a Pats fan and can enjoy him instead of being a fan of another team and be forced to hate him for winning all the time! Sure I would hope to think I would respect him, like I do Manning, but honestly Manning has never been a real threat to me or the Pats to hate him. Colt fans HATE Brady because on the field in those Pats vs. Colts face to face matchups, Brady has taken it to them all but once when it counted!

I don't know if he is the best ever, YET! But, I do know he is better than Marino ever was. See, Brady, has something called leadership skills which Dan was sorely lacking.

I think we should wait after the retirement to discuss about his status amongst the greatest.

I just heard this so I thought that I would share. Tom Brady was not born. He was put together from the best parts of Super Bowl winning QBs. The clef in his chin is for the ladies.

We really don't give a **** about your opinion here. Haven't you figured that out yet? Or are you a short bus kid?

If he wins another one there is no doubt in my mind Brady can be discussed among the best of all time. I think he is now. But it will always be open to discussion. What won't be open to discussion is Brady is a first ballot Hall Of Famer like all the other greats. I'm sure that will suite him fine when the time comes.

The only thing which is huge that distinguishes Montana is the way he won the Nfc championship vs Dallas in 81 and how he beat the Bengals twice. If you look at Joe's numbers he's not even in the same league as Marino,Elway,Favre etc. I think Montana only averaged 22 TD's per year which is very good, but not elite. The guy is awesome though and he built his legacy being cool in the clutch and that is what Champions do. One of the best ever for sure.

Brady is relatively young and may yet vault to the top of the list. Montana is ahead, but he's even with all the others.

As for Moss and Rice, I would still take Rice. Brady would have a field day with a receiver like Rice since their games were meant for each other. I actually think Moss would excel even more with Peyton Manning since Manning is more accurate way down field, but I think Manning would not be as good as Brady with a receiver like Rice.
