Does Chad Jackson get activated on Tuesday or to the IR?

I think IR

We're good at WR
Washington is playing Special Teams kickoffs too
so there is no reason to bring Jackson in to be the 6th WR who probably won't play ST

Activated.

But i don't know. He was injured last January? Isn't 10 months pretty quick to come back from an ACL type injury?

I think we have until Thursday with Jackson. We activated him on Wednesday of week 7's preparations. So I think Thursday would be 21 days.

I don't know if Jackson gets activated unless one of the injured guys go to IR. I'd say 60-40 against Jackson getting activated.

I fully expect to see him on the roster. Because...

- he's healthy, by all accounts;
- unlike Gaffney and Washington he's actually signed for next season and it would be good to work him into the offense;
- he can contribute on special teams;
- BB has said nice things about his maturation process;
- he has a boatload of talent.

But what the hell do I know.

I suspect he'll be activated... if they were thinking IR they've sure not been playing up his lack of health

Additionally with some of the health issueas at TE Gaffney's often found himself in a TE type role, perhaps making room for Jackson on the roster as well

Of course, finding a spot for him on the gameday active list might be a different matter... still BB makes absolutely clear how he values special team roles.

Troy is going to be a different matter - I still feel that Troy will be situationally signed and cut once he's off the PUP - and that depending on the week to week game situation and overall health there could be a lot of movement on the roster

I don't know. Unless Belichick feels comfortable putting him back in special teams, I say it is a toss up whether they activate him. Yes, there is a benefit that he is the long term future of the Pats, but Belichick is more concerned about the here and now. If he thinks Troy Brown could actually get activated to the active roster, I don't know if Chad Jackson can too.

If this is coming down to special teams I don't know why we'd be giving the edge to Washington, when comparing him to Jackson. From what I remember, Chad was a good returner when given the chance last year, and he was contributing on coverage teams as well. Actually, his injury came while Chad was on coverage teams.

Also, Washington has had his own serious injury problems throughout his career, and he's had at least one injury concern so far this season.

PS: I'm a LB and I've never had an ACL repair, but my cousin is a 5'11" speedy WR, and he had ACL repair just this past year. He was out on the field only six months after the repair, and he had the swelling Jackson didn't have.

So who do they put in IR?

Mel Mitchell? He's been out for about a month?

Wilson again?

IF the Patriots were to simply IR or release Mitchell, and send ventrone back to the practice squad, that would open up two spots for both Jackson's.

Really, I'm kind of surprised BB activated ventrone instead of Eddie Jackson this past week, but maybe he wants the full 21 days to evaluate the situation.

Please give your opinion.

I'd love to see him in there,even just replacing the 10 plays or so that Gaffney gets.

just the threat of someone with his size and speed
with Dante and Moss is really scary.

Activate him.

Chad Jackson was my favorite player in college, activate him!

Seriously though Sieglo everybody has been calling him a bust from early on last year, his intelligence was questioned, his heart, his toughness, even his character when their was some rumors who got scolded harshly by the veterans when he acted like a child at some meeting.
I want him to prove everybody wrong, I know he has the word bust written all over him.
Fastest 40 time in draft, won the catch challenge. won the obstacle course challenge and played for the Florida gators.
The man looks like TO runs like a cheetah and is very young and cheap!
We'd have to be crazy not to want to see him flourish.
As alot of other people have said think about the speed of Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Jackson, Maroney all on the field at the same time!
This could make the greatest show on turf look like the 07 ravens offense.
He mentioned Moss took him under his wing BB has complimented him he's suppose to be back to full health let's see it.

Cut Marcelious rivers move Gaffney to tightend, IR mitchell move ventrone to the PS, Activate Jackson, Jackson, Brown that would have me even more excited about this season.

ACTIVATE HIM

He's healthy.
He is signed through 2009.
Practicing with the team will help his development.
He'll file a complaint if he's put on IR.

Reiss also thinks he'll be activated

Activate him. Jackson has talent and can get some reps when games are out of hand.

Empty backfield:

Moss
Stallworth
Welker
Watson
Jackson

My question is a simple, honest one. How the hell does any team defend that much speed and size?

Gaffney's job could be at risk, even though he just started a game, due to lack of contribution on STs.

I'm guessing Ventrone got his one game check and it's back to the PS, with Chad Jackson having a reasonable shot at being active on game day for reasons of STs.

And I think Troy Brown will ultimately be activated as Welker insurance if nothing else, plus emergency DB depth. If Welker were to be hurt, who on the roster or shadow roster would you most want taking his third down reps? I say it's Troy. And Troy has enough other versatility and value to be justify a roster spot.

activate him. This team is built to pass and can't have enough healthy wrs. Would not surprise me to see brown and Jackson active and cut Washington.
