Mortenson: Brett Favre might be the MVP over Brady

If Brady didn't play another game for the rest of the season, you'd still have a pretty compelling case for him as MVP.

These stupid sportwriters have to make up stories so that people dont realize the season is over.

If Brady doesn't win it this year its only beacuse of 1 thing

Jealousy

Let's go piece by piece so far and break it down, note that Brady has played in ONE more game than Favre thus far:

RECORD
Brady: 9-0
Favre: 7-1
Edge: Brady

PASSER RATING:
Brady: 131.8
Favre: 93.3
Edge: Brady

PASSING TDs:
Brady: 33
Favre: 13
Per game:
Brady: 3.7
Favre: 1.6
Edge: Brady

PASSING YARDs:

Brady: 2686
Favre: 2406
Per game:
Brady: 298.4
Favre: 300.7
Edge: Favre

COMPLETION PCT:
Brady: 73.2%
Favre: 66.6%
Edge: Brady

INT:
Brady: 4
Favre: 8
Per game:
Brady: .44
Favre: 1
Edge: Brady

Against COMMON FOES (SD & WAS):

Brady: 123 & 125.6 ratings
Favre: 110.3 & 45.6 ratings
Edge: Brady

So there's 7 pretty simply categories, Brady wins easily in 6 of them, Favre barely edges in one. Not to mention the odds of Favre not being a douche bag down the stretch and throwing a mass amount of picks is pretty slim.

Mort's a douche. A huge, huge douche. It's that simple.

Wow, nice compilation. Brady has thrown more than twice as many TDs with half as many picks, which contributes in large part to his having a 40 point advantage in passer rating. Mortensen is just stirring up ****- I don't care how much the rest of the league hates the Pats, Brady really can't not get the award.

I'm hoping that there will be Co-MVPs this year.. Moss and Brady.. Wouldn't that just piss peeps off..

That would be pretty neat. Moss would have to crush the receiving TD record for it to occur (which I don't think he will)

While Brady is fully deserving of the award so far this season, it still isnt until the playoff contenders are decided. Not that he is likely to nosedive, but it aint over till it's over.

A part of me is, however, uncomfortable with the MVP award in the first place. Firstly because it is a popularity contest to a large extent, but more importantly I believe there hasnt been an MVP that has added a ring to that award in the same season this century. It's almost like the Madden Curse, you dont really want to win it in case you crash in the playoffs (Manning(2), McNair, Gannon, LT and Alexander.

Stop worrying. It's ONE guy that said it, and not only that, I'd put money on Mortensen voting for Brady if he had a vote. Guys get excited when they see something like what Favre did, and are not putting down Brady, but just stating that Favre is playing a like a great leader.

Brady is the MVP, hands down. It will be a unanimous selection. Don't fret.

I never liked Mortenson I could never put my finger on it, although now I know why.
If Brady loses MVP the only worse crime was OJ getting away with murder!

Seriously people think about this.

i don't care.

just win the damn ring.
it's all that really matters.

If we win another ring and brady gets screwed out of the mvp it'll just motivate this team more.

Favre 13TD 8INT 2406yds 93.3Rt

Brady 33TD 4INT 2686yds 131.8RT

Two compare the seasons these two are having is laughable. Even worse.

If Favre's season ended today, his TD to INT rating would be worse then all but one season in Brady's career, his 1st year as a starter.

This is just Mort pusing his agenda trying to plant the seed in people's mind.

With all due respect to Mort, yeah ******* right.

I think Adrian Peterson will be Brady's biggest competition. It'll be hard not to give it to a guy who will rush for 2000 yards.

Funnily enough, Barry Sanders shared the NFL MVP in 1997 (his 2000+ yard season) with who? Brett Favre. A year later, Terrell Davis won it while having a 2000 yard season. Eric ****erson did not win in 1984 when he had over 2100 yards.

That said, the best comparison is probably Jamal Lewis in 2003. He gained 2100 yards that year as well, and came just short of ****erson's record, but McNair and Manning were awarded the co-MVPs. This is a legendary year for Brady, and he will be the MVP. I also don't think Peterson gets 2000 this year, probably around 1800 (2000's within reach for next year if the Vikings get a QB), but he's really exciting. He hits the hole harder than any back I've ever seen, and starts real deep in the backfield and is already 5 yards down the field if you blink from the snap.

Mort hates the Pats because they refuse to give him any inside scoops.

UGhhh, ESPN loves Favre

Favre can have the regular season MVP

Brady wants the Superbowl MVP

seems to have issues with pats. today they were talking that any qb with that much protection could have numbers like Brady. never mentioned bout peyton..if i remmeber correctly. i think on outside the lines show.

what is nice is watching each analyst eating crow weak after weak. anyway...i am satisfied with that 6th round draft pick> Brady

Good point, I don't deny for one second that Brady is going to win the MVP; but I'm just saying Peterson is his biggest competition.

Too bad Ronnie wasn't hurt because he could've broken Faulk's total yards record.

This reminds me of the media single handedly pumping up the Jeter for MVP bandwagon, the other year. Luckily that didnt work.
