I think that we need to involve Maroney more in the offense. Running, catching passes, anything. I think he needs to get it cranking before we hit the playoffs.

Saving him for the cold weather? Saving him for the playoffs? I could see Belichick and McDaniels deciding that, given his injuries the past few years, he should be used a little as possible until the games matter (being that they're blowing everyone out). In the Colts game, he had run the ball 13 times at the 8 minute mark of the 3rd (on pace for about 20 carries for the game). They didn't abandon the run until Brackett INT and subsequent TD, putting them down by two scores.

My opinion: use him a little more each week, just build up slowly until the playoffs. Because there's going to be a game--probably in Foxborough, in 20 degree weather with mud or snow--when he's gonna have to be a horse. You want him fresh, but you don't want him rusty.

Noisegate IS football. ;)

:D

Be that as it may, it is over now, as is the Colts game.

How does everyone think Belichick will treat the Bye? I am gonna say he gives them until Thursday off, and then its back to film, x's and o's, and hopefully some tackling drills - especially on dumpoff passes.

Exactly, I don't want him rusty for that time. Maybe 20 touches a game, whether or not they are handoffs. Give him 15 handoffs and 5 passes. I just don't like the fact that he is being underutilized when he should be getting back into game form. I understand in this game the run needed to be abandoned, but in a game where we have a larger lead, or we need to run the ball to eat up clock, I wouldn't mind springing Maroney loose. That being said, I wouldn't want him worn down, so I agree with using Eckel, Evans, and Faulk as well.

Yeah, some days off are definitely well deserved after a fantastic 9 game stretch and coming off their toughest game of the year--both competition-wise and physically.

That said, it's also the PERFECT time for the bye. They need a week to regroup, figure out what went wrong for about 50 minutes of that game, get back to basics (tackling, tackling, tackling) and get ready for an underrated Bills team.

Plus, work on an extension for Moss...if there's any way it's happening during the season it better happen this week. I DO NOT want him getting away after this season.

Its NOT over, its NEVER over.

That was in a movie, anyone know which one? (I don't)

Why must we baby Maroney. Am I the only one that is disappointed in him so far. He was a #1 pick. I expect more from him than he has shown.
We need a Dillion runner and he is not the runner was Dillion was for a few years.

Colinsworth and Easterbrook (et al) probably think BB kills puppies, steals from senior citizens and cuts people off on I-95 for laughs. See, because he's evil.

Eeeeevil!!

SOunds like a good time. I wish I was on the team, I would totally cut people off for laughs.

God I love Belichick.

How do you mean Dillon runner? I see very few similarities between the two of them, both in how they play and how they may have been intended to fit into this offense. They're very different backs, and Maroney will probably never be a grinder.

That said, if your point was just that he should be able to touch the ball 25 times per game, then it's hard to argue with that expectation from a first round pick.

This is what I meant.
A teams # 1 back should be about to carry the ball this much every game. I hope we can see this later this year.

If the Goodell's office state's that a matter is officially "closed" that only means they are involved in a cover-up.

At least that's what Peter King told me.
