tomase seems to throw in that theory.

As we noted earlier, linebacker Adalius Thomas didn’t take any defensive snaps in the first quarter, though he did appear on special teams. It’s possible he was being disciplined for something. Or it could simply be the Pats removed him in the nickel, since they were playing a four-man line. That would be unexpected, only because the idea when he was acquired was that he’d help combat Dallas Clark, who has instead been neutralized (1 catch, minus-2 yards) by Rodney Harrison
i think AD wasnt full fit. in that addai 73 yard run he looked slow and hobbled to me.

Re: Adalius Thomas benched ?

IIRC, he took a helmet to the ankle in the Cleveland game and has been fairly quiet since. Hopefully the bye week will help.

Re: Adalius Thomas benched ?

If he's hurt, then why is he playing special teams of all things.

Maybe his biggest physical shortcoming is quickness cutting. That's certainly conceivable with an ankle problem.

JAGs who are deficient at guickness can still be good ST players. Maybe a hobbled AD can too.

Come on, the guy has been playing on a bad ankle for several weeks.

ILB Adalius Thomas
(on his lack of playing time)
“It was new and it was tough. But you know it’s always that way. All I do is go out there when I’m asked to go out there and you make plays when you’re out there. That’s kind of how it went today. ... I’m not commenting on [playing time]. It is what it is. We won. It’s bigger than that. We’re moving forward to the next thing.”

I don't think he was "benched", we just started out in that horrible 4-3 and he wasn't one of the 3 LB. Bruschi knows the defense better for a scheme change in a big game. Call it "benched" if you like but I don't.

I think the OP is right on the money. I just saw the highlights of Addai's TD run and, for the last twenty yards, AD looks like Yastrzemski in his final years. He's definitely hobbling. The bye comes at a perfect time for him.

Could it because of the Ray Lewis media war? just a thought.....

Didn't anyone but me hear that AD was responsible for keeping Dallas Clark out of the action? - Didn't Clark only have like 15 yards in receiving? - I think A.D. did a fine job last night.

I thought Harrison was on Clark.

I'd rather have our most expensive linebacker on the bench then playing special teams if he is indeed injured.

I don't think so. He was in the backfield when that run started, being held even I think, yet 70 some yards later he had closed to be the closest Pat to Addai as he scampered across the goal line.

Bill had a bizarro scheme in mind tonight to shut down Manning. Addai was a little more versatile than he bargained for. Guys were playing out of position all over the place for most of the day. And yet, in the end, they made it work against a gassed Colts Oline and Dline. Which was why, missed tackles aside, Bill was positively giddy as time expired.

Harrison covered Clark

A.T. was hobbled a bit and played inside when he was in there, but I saw him on the sidelines a lot during the 2nd half

I thought I heard A.D. was covering Clark pretty well, not Harrison - I could be wrong

Rodney was velcroed to Clark all day. Manning finally connected with him once late, but for quite some time he had 2 catches for -2 yards.

I actually thought I saw AD play some defensive line today with that 4 - 3.

I think that he did. He was in on the last Colt drive when Manning threw the ball to Colvin.
