That idiot has GOT to have the worst voice in radio. I get irritated to the max every time I hear it with TV highlights -- he's like Donald Duck on amphetamines. The worst was his call of Brady's game-ending interception in the last AFCCG: "We're going to the Super Bowl!" "We" are going to the Super Bowl? The epitome of homerism defined. No way you'll ever hear Gil Santos refer to himself and the Patriots as "we."

Take that idiot announcer, Indy's pep rally, those moronic "AFC Finalist" banners in the RCA Dome, the quarterhick and his commercials, Dungy's sanctimony, Polian's evildoing, carpetbagging ownership, Vinatraitor, bandwagon fan base ... What an absolutely obnoxious franchise.

What I love is that they are actually buying into this "good Vs Evil" crap. My wife hates football. The only reason she is watching this sunday is because of this game. She is actually excited. Because she wants too see Peyton Mannings ass kicked because he is so damn annoying.
That's classic.

Nobody is worse than that Steelers radio guy - if anybody knows who I am referring to...

He sounds like a guy so nerdy that he probably went thru H.S. with a 'kick my butt' sign taped to his ***** and was kneed so hard in the groin that he ended up with that voice that makes my radio suicidal everytime a steelers game is broadcast in my area.

Please don't hold back just tell us how you really feel...alot of us Colts fans can't stand the radio announcer either, I haven't had to listen to him in along time..thank god

*Speaking a million miles per hour* Manningbacktopasslookingoverthemiddlehe'sgotMarvin TOUCH DOWN!

I don't mind the radio guys being homers. Hell, I used to love listening to Johnny Most.

Plus, OUR football announcers ain't perfect. In fact, when I heard the Indy guy's calls underneath the video footage on ESPN last night, I was thinking, "Lots of energy... AND he knows the numbers and names of all his players, too!" :D

Bob Lamey is the guy we're talking about. Being a homer is fine (I loved Johnny Most) but it's his voice that does me in - it's horrid, horrid, horrid.

I actually like him and the Eagles announcer Merrill Reese, I heard them in so many highlight films during the years that I kind of like their style now.

The radio announcers are homers, they're supposed to be. Its different from the national broadcast tv, and again, it should be. I know that I enjoy listening to Gil and Gino because they know our players and they are more insightful than the national media announcers on our team(even if they screw up the #'s occasionally). IMO, radio has, and always should, play to the home crowd. Now as far as their voices, that guy from Pitt used to crack me up! Reminded me of the radio guy in Seabiscuit.

Radio Play by Play guys are either like walking sleeping pills or like squirrels with hyperactive thyroids. they either put you to sleeeeeeep or they annoy the heck out of you.

Yes, Lamey is a homer, in fact, he's about as big (literally) a homer as they come. It's hilarious, you all ought to listen to him if the Patriots are winning, you will get a taste of the most dejected sounding announcer you have ever heard. If we are looking bad, it sounds like this guy is going to hang himself from the pressbox.

Your announcers ain't no treat either. How many times can you hear "Direct snap to Brady" said exactly the same way in a row? It sounds like one of those computer games playing the same audio snippet over and over. I think Belichick should call some indirect snaps to somebody else a few times a game to break the monotomy!

Ahhhhh, Bob Lamey!

I may get some flack for this but I don't care. My first reaction to Bob Lamey was the same when I first heard him 12 years ago, WHEN I WAS 13! I wanted to take a knife and remove his vocal chords. That happened to be the season when Captian Comeback (Jim Harbaugh) and the Colts were somehow able to sweep the Pats despite the fact that we owned them every other year before and after that season.

Needless to say, I hated everything Colts related especially Bob Lamey. He drove me crazy. I have come to find over the years that Bob is like a beer. Who drinks a beer the first time and is like "mmmm, that's smooth." Over the years, Bob became tolerable to me, to the point now that I feel like he's one of my several annoying Colt fan friends.

What turned me was all of the times that I got to listen to him when the Colts lose. Honestly, you haven't experienced pleasure until you've experienced Bob Lamey on the radio when the Colts are losing. I love it because he's such a homer that you get this feeling that he doesn't want to speak at all, but he has to because he's getting paid for it. Trust me, his voice is much more tolerable then. If you get a chance to listen to him on Sunday, do it. I'm telling you, you won't regret it.

The problem with being too much of a homer is they can't be objective enough to call the team out when it's stinking up the joint. I don't like announcers being in the team's hip pocket. When Lamey screamed "We're goin' to the Super Bowl!" somebody should've shoved him head-first out of the press box.

At least Gil Santos sounds like a man and not a cartoon character. (FYI, the Patriots have a trick play where Kevin Faulk takes the direct snap.)

If you're talking about the Steelers guy that retired about 2-3 years ago, then I agree 100%. The single worst voice I have ever heard announcing a sports event.

The 2 best: Vin Scully and Keith Jackson.

Being a homer is fine for local guys... so yeah I have no problem if the Colts guy is a homer (I have never heard him so I can't comment on his voice). National guys shouldn't be homers or let their biases from their playing days carry over into their broadcast career.

He is the one that invented the Terrible Towel.

We call is the "Crying Towel" here in New England? Everytime I come across one of those things after the Patriots have beaten the Steelers, it's soaked with tears.
