The NE Awesomes are having a remarkable year.

What will they look like in years to come? It's well documented that this is an OLD team. Adding another year is going to make them older, not more experienced. Moss will be gone after this year. You are short one of your two 1st round draft picks next year.

I'm not saying NE will stink next year, but could this be the peak? Is the window closing? Last chance? As if there weren't enough pressure this year :(

Don't worry, buddy. The Pats will continue to own your steelers far into the future.

What makes you so sure of that?

So in otherwords they'll have exactly as many 1st rounders this year as almost every other team in the League.

Well, this year could indeed be the peak but they are so overwhelmingly dominant that they will certainly remain a contender (and probably the favorite) for next year and going forward.

People like you have been saying "This is it for the Pats" to us for 7 years running now. As long as Tom Brady is QB, they will be among the league's elite.

That's the difference. Without Brady, you are far from elite. You may not even be a contender. Take away Ben and we keep on truckin. That's why the Steelers have been winning football games for the last 35 years.

Pitt Key players 30+

Fanaca 31
Farrior 32
Haggins 30
Hampton 30
Smith 30
Townsend 32
Ward 31

Seau, Harrison, Bruschi, Colvin(30), AD(30) and Moss(30) are our key players who are 30+. Brady is 30 as well but QBs can to well into their late 30's.

So you have as much age as we do.

And that's why Roethlisberger is crazy overrated.

To be direct. That simply isn't true. You have half a dozen players older than the steeler's oldest player and most of those players play either DB or LB. This is not an old man's position.

Fanaca 31 - He is gone after this year
Farrior 32 - His replacement was drafted last year Round 1
Haggins 30 - He is gone after this year and his replacement was drafted round 2
Hampton 30 - He plays NT!
Smith 30 - He plays OT!
Townsend 32 - We are deep CB and have a couple guys capable of playing for him today
Ward 31 - Possession receiver who's game can last another 3-5 years

These guys are all just a step over 30. You have many guys in mid-30's and a sea of players after that in same age range as the guys you post above. The Steelers always maintain a nice mix of vets and youth. Its well documented that the Steelers cut guys loose as they get old.

Yeah, free agency is not how to build long term success. The draft is, and when you look at it, what the Pats did in free agency is going to help them this season, and maybe next year. It seems to me that they are building up for a final run before they start going downhill and into a rebuilding phase.

I know! Everyone said the same thing in 2003, and 2004, and 2005...

I forget.
Is this the year the Patriots crumble?:bricks:

Obviously not this year, they are on a roll right now. Having said that, spending gobs of money on high profile players may be good for short term success, but whats going to happen whats those players are over the hill a gew years after you sign them?

Besides A Thomas and Wes Welker, who was signed for gobs of money? Both have cap friendly contracts to boot.

The Pats signed 15 (let me say it again, 15) free-agents for the 2001 team. Where are most of them now?
When they stop preforming they leave.

keep dreaming.as long as BB and pioli are with the team.the pats will be very good for years to come.nobody drafts players better then the pats do .its obvious to everybody here your extremely jealous and drooling with envy over the patriots .there is nothing you can say that's going to rain on anybodies parade here.thank you for your concern but rest assured patriots fans are enjoying it and they will continue to lol

As opposed to you guys who went 8-8 last year. Interesting definition of how you "keep on truckin'".

Which ones are that..? Moss..? Well, he has a 1 year deal so it's tough to say we mortgaged the future on him. Thomas..? I hardly consider him "over the hill". Wes Welker is 26. Donte Stallworth has a 100% club-friendly contract.

So which free agents are going to hurt us..?

"Don't you guys get it!!!! Many free-agents mean cap-hell!!!! It doesn't matter how their contracts are structured or how much they make!!!!!"

:bricks:

The pats don't build through the draft?!?!?! Boy, you might be legally ******ed. The following are patriots draft picks currently starting for team.

Tom Brady
Matt Light
Logan Mankins
Dan Koppen
Stephen Neal (UDFA)
Nick Kazcur
Ben Watson
Laurence Maroney
Kevin Faulk
Richard Seymour
Vince Wilfork
Ty Warren
Tedy Bruschi
Jarvis Green
Asante Samuel
James Sanders
Eugene Wilson
Ellis Hobbs
Randal Gay

Current players in the NFL drafted by the Patriots include:
David Givens
Deion Branch
Damien Woody
Lawyer Milloy
Ty Law
Willie McGinnest
...the list goes on and on and on.

Say what you will about the Patriots, but they have always been a team that builds through the draft and augments through free agency. Man, you really know nothing about football, huh?

They have always? nah, maybe during the Brady/Bellicheck era of football? And to everyone saying other fans are jealous of the Pats? well, I dont know about everybody elses teams, but Steeler fans arent jealous of anybody. Since the 1970's the steelers have had 7 losing seasons, thats it 7!!!
The rooneys are the best owners in the NFL thats for sure. When the Pats accomplish something like that then maybe you can talk about the pats franchise being the best.
