Cassel out of favor now?

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

I always like David Greene from Georgia. Wouldn't mind him coming up from the PS. He was a solid player, had the intangibles. Reminded me a lot of Brady. Was surprised when he didn't catch on as an NFL backup right away ...

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

I think it's more that Gutierrez is winning some respect rather Cassel losing it. Cassel looked awful against the 'Phins but pretty good against the Redskins, with neither game giving us an extended look.

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

When hearing BB talk about Bill Walsh he mentioned how impressive it was that Walsh had success with not only Montana but Steve Young too. I think that he will look to do the same when the dreaded time comes for Brady to hang 'em up.

Are you kidding? They're gonna share a cab on the way out.

Hopefully in 2016. ;)

What about the coach that was thrashed last week????

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

The rating is dismal because he threw one pass out of five for an INT; on just five passes, that's a swing of almost 40 points.

The article could be correct, it may be way off base. All we know is that the Patriots were willing to start the season with Brady, Cassel, and Gutierrez. [We also know that Cassel can run the ball pretty well if nobody's open. :) ]

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

Let's put this on the PFW Source-O-Meter.

"We’re hearing" means absolutely nothing. Guy at the next desk, something somebody read, the voices in their head. Zip zilch zero.

"Sources tell us" notice how unreliable the source close to the subject, team sources, or league sources are. Then realize these aren't even that reliable, they're just sources:confused:

My take? No one really cares about the Pats backup QB situation outside of a few Patriots messageboards and this is the busiest.

The information loop is complete. You are the source for the story you just read. PFW read one of your posts and told it to the guy at the next desk.

Pro Football Weekly is ABSOLUTE JUNK. I'm no huge Cassel fan, but that's a feeble "story." Those guys are always either WAY LATE or WAY OFF-BASE. They could be right, and I still wouldn't take anything they say seriously.

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

Wasn't PFW that said the Pat's brass was unhappy with OT Kazcur??

And now all we have is the best OL in football.

I think they just make stuff up.

Re: Cassell out of favor now?

They read tea leaves. Is Greene still on the PS? If so, having two young QBs and a young backup who threw an interception spells story to PFW.

They add source like chefs add sauce.:D

BINGO!!!!! Thers alot being made up to discredit this team these days,. Heck, if Cassel is such a bum, its all the more reason to keep TB in there ripping opposing defenses new ones.

Gutierrez has more composure. His rythm is great. He gets in the game, I look closely at first, but overall, I don't feel very worried. I really wanted Matt Cassel to be a great one, but when he gets in the game, I find myself gritting my teeth and the reason is that his rythm is off a little. Its like one of the band members playing a little different beat. You can tell that he gets tense.
