I believe they had to start the clock on Troy Brown today or lose him for the season.

Not sure there is room for troy right now, it's too bad.

Re: troy brown

has to be activated by monday i believe, though i could be wrong

Re: troy brown

I imagine he'd have to announce his retirement then.

If that's the case, they can't make too big a deal about this, meaning he should be feted like the great Boston sports hero he is.

I think I heard today that the deadline was this coming Tues.

No room for Troy Brown, I never thought I'd hear those words. Sigh, he will always be loved.

Re: troy brown

The deadline to start practicing is this coming week. I imagine he'll do that and if an injury happens in the next three weeks to the WR then we'll have Troy ready to go. If not there will be a tough choice to be made.

Re: troy brown

Tuesday is the final day and he will be cleared to practice.

Now, mark my words - Troy Brown will be on this active roster within 2-3 weeks and he will make plays, just as he always has.

There is always a spot for Troy Brown and we will be thankful at some point this year that we have him.

There's plenty of room for him. Morris just went down. He can take Morris's spot in three weeks.

1. I believe the deadline is 4PM on Saturday.

2. They don't need any room for him because starting the clock does not take up a roster space.

Adding him to the roster DOES take up a roster space.

I would have been mildly surprised to see the clock start far in advance of the deadline.

I will be very surprised is the Patriots don't start the clock on Troy at all. There really isn't any downside to doing this. Who knows what will happen over the next three weeks.

Re: troy brown

I see Troy returning punts because Welker's role has been increased so much of late. Kid needs a breather. Catching passes, blocking linebackers, and returning punts?

behold our Sammy Morris replacement

I thought there was a three week window to start the clock?

THe Jackson brothers (Eddie and Chad) started practicing the Tuesday after week 6, so if the window is three weeks, we should have until Monday after week 9.

Well put and further more here is to hoping he is ready sooner rather than later..

The OP was almost correct. The deadline is sometime between the Monday night game that ends Week 9 and the Sunday of Week 10, although I'm not 100% of the exact deadline within that time period; my guess is something like 5 PM Tuesday.

Also, that deadline is to have him start practicing. The deadline for activating him is three weeks from when he starts practicing.

As for his place on the team, at this point, I'm not sure there's anything he can do that Welker can't. [Welker had 22 INTs as a safety in HS; if you watch the INT in the Bengals game, you'll see his instincts switched immediately into DB mode.] I'm not saying there's no place for Bingo, just that I'm not 100% sure of it, either.

The PUP Clock

The clock for Troy Brown hasn't started yeat. Presumably he'll be cleared for practice on Tuesday and we'll have three weeks to decide on his future.

As I recall, the clock on the Jackson boys has already began. When does it end? I suspect it ends during the bye week, but I am not sure.

We have an open spot (Morris). It seems that no one was activated to the 45 for tomorrow's game.

I believe they were activated two weeks ago on Wednesday. That means their clock runs out on Tuesday.

Re: The PUP Clock

I think Tuesday late afternoon....I wonder who will ve activated?? Rginking Jackson...Eddie...

BINGO headed to the IR?

Like many, I am curious as to what the Pats plan to do with Troy. I don't believe he started practicing this week and they are quickly running out of time with him..

I'd hate to see him end his career on the IR.
