The Patriots have just announced that running back Sammy Morris will miss the rest of the season with a chest injury. Here’s the release that was just issued by the team:The New England Patriots placed veteran running back Sammy Morris on the reserve/injured list today. Very disappointing for Morris and the team :(

Wonder how Dillon would feel about being asked to come back now that we're 8-0?

Naaah.... didn't think so.

Man, that hurts. 'Hope Sammy recovers, but who is going to fill his roster space? Troy Brown? We can't go the rest of the way without another RB, can we?

wow

incredibly unfortunate

That really sucks. He outperformed my expectations by a mile. He was a very good, very hard runner. :(

WTH?! Now we defenitely need Maroney and Faulk to stay healthy.

Sad news. Just as I was thinking this year wasn't as bad injury wise for us. Wonder what happened since they waited a couple weeks before putting him on IR. Was there a setback or was it more serious than originally reported? Interesting to find out.

:ditto:

Morris was a terrific contributor, terrible luck on the freak injury. I hope he has a smooth recovery.

Really too bad for Morris and the Pats. Could anyone have thought before the season we'd all be so upset at hearing this news? That just speaks to what a job he's done this season.

This is what I have been saying all along. Now lets see who was right.A l ot of the homers where calling me an idiot for talking about maroneys lack of durabilty?

Now they are worried. If maroney goes down we are screwed.

What's his contract status? Is he on a one year deal, or will he be back?

i think Maroney and Faulk are great RBs. I would like someone to take some of the pounding and spell these two...maybe Evans can take some more snaps. Dont underestimate what Faulk brings to the team though

He signed a 4-year deal this offseason, so he'll be back next year.

Hey, if Brady goes down we are screwed. If Maroney goes down, well, it's a big headache no doubt...

It's disappointing news. Anytime there's a bad injury, that's what you hold your breath about--will they go to IR. Probably looked touch & go, and then they figured out he just couldn't make it back.

They'll pick up another veteran back--it WON'T be Dillon, so nobody say it. But they'll want another power back for the short yardage stuff.

Maybe Tiki wants a ring like Ronde?

Another reason why last week the Pats were throwing late in the game.

They just didn't want to wait for him most likely. He probably was a couple more weeks out or so and they figured they could make different roster moves that help the team more.
