One of the PFW guys just read it out on air.

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

Hopefully not true. Very bad if so.

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

That really sucks he was a great fit for this team.

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

And so it goes...
The AFC rep to the SB yet again will be the healthiest good team

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

That's to bad, BUT that opens the door for one of the Jackson's to be activated. They have been practicing for the last three weeks.

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

Begs the question, who gets the roster spot...one of the Jacksons?

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

Reiss just put it up...

Morris to IR
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Patriots announced that RB Sammy Morris (chest) was placed on injured reserve today, ending his season. Morris was injured Oct. 14 against the Cowboys.

With the open roster spot, look for the Patriots to activate either WR Chad Jackson or CB Eddie Jackson from the physically unable to perform list. Due to some injury concerns in the defensive backfield with Eugene Wilson (ankle), Eddie Jackson seems like the more likely candidate.

A bit from the press release regarding Morris:

Morris, 30, was signed by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 3, 2007. He has played in 100 career games with 25 starts and joined the Patriots after spending seven seasons with Buffalo (2000-03) and Miami (2004-06). The 6-foot, 220-pound running back played in six games with two starts for New England this season and rushed 85 times for 384 yards (4.5 avg.) and three touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 35 yards and made one special teams tackle. In his Patriots debut on Sept. 9, Morris totaled 54 yards on 11 carries. He scored touchdowns in each of the next three games, capping off that stretch with 117 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries (5.6 avg.) in the Patriots' 34-13 win over Cincinnati on Oct. 1. Morris's 117 rushing yards in that game were the second highest total of his career. He followed that game with a 102-yard output while starting his first game of the season against Cleveland on Oct. 7. He earned his second straight start against Dallas on Oct. 14 before leaving the game with a chest injury.

Bring back Corey!

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

Probably would be a good idea to sign an RB to the practice squad. It's no lock Maroney stays healthy.

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

This is why I was hoping they replaced Heath Evans with a legit RB3 who can be trusted to carry the load. :(

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

#39 needs to stay healthy now but I feel ok with Faulk and Evans back there still. Much rather have Morris but what can you do.

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

fook activating one of the jacksons, promote BAM BAM! lets fight a small fast D with a smaller, faster O! :rocker:

Re: ESPN Boston: Morris to IR

Wonder what FA RB we'll sign. Barlow, Mungro, Haynes...... Dillon??? Who's all available?

For some reason, I'm really not that worried about Maroney. If we need a back, the Pats will find one. After seeing how easily Maroney, Faulk and even Evans ran through that defense last week, I'm really not worried about this. This offense has to many weapons. We will get by. It will not surprise me if Alexander ends up on IR too.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm bothered a lot less by this than I was by what happened to D. Thomas--there it seems like the Pats lost him for the season because they tried to activate him too early--and what happened to C. Jackson last year.

I agree with that. It would have been better if they had put him on PUP. It would have given him more time to heal, IMO.
