If Belichick wants to score points in the fourth quarter of routs, someone needs to put Brady, Moss and Wes Welker on blast.
Football is a horrifically violent sport. If you can't beat 'em, you might as well beat somebody. Belichick's approach is putting a target on the back (and head) of players who don't deserve it.
NEEDS? Anyone that makes a statement like that is irresponsible and shouldn't be allowed to write for Fox or any other media outlet. If it actually happens, I would love to see Kraft win a lawsuit for damages. You can crow about freedom of the press, but this equates to someone going on the news and inciting a group of people to riot (look at LA).
I can't see how these morons equate the score of a friggen game with injuring someone. If you can't take losing, then hang up the pads and go play chess. It's a GAME people!!!! Get over it.
Whitlock need not worry. I hear the Rules Committee has already drafted a rule that any team with a starting QB who dates a supermodel must pull their starting QB in the fourth quarter if they are up by 3 or more TDs. They were going to make it any starting QBs dating a Victoria Secrets supermodel who comes from Brazil, but they really didn't make this rule specific to Tom Brady and the Pats. They felt this would apply to "most" starting QBs in the league if they just make it generally a supermodel.
By the way, if Goodell ever told a team how to play their games other than if they are violating the written rules, Goodell should be fired immediately. It isn't Goodell's job to police whether teams run up the score.
Preferably? So he WANTS someone to illegaly hurt Moss now? This is great. Maybe I'll coach little league next year and tell the kids "Hey this team is too good. Billy, next inning, I want you to hit #5 hit the head with the first pitch OK".
How in the heck can people hold up Dungy's "goodness" and at the same time, avocate committing a personal foul that injures someone? If that player was committing personal fouls, I could see it, but for being too good at their game?

The article overall is okay, but the Goodell thing and the CONTINUED ball-wash of Tony Dungy as this demi-God and Belichick as being a hoodlum for scoring points - despite that Dungy has done the same thing - is out of hand.
Sounds like Whitlock is being Whitlock. Actually it's a very good article by his standards. It does have a few stupid things in it (such as Roger Goodell should somehow "get involved" in the Patriots offense scoring points. Are you crazy??)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However if the reputation of the Patriots is that important to the league, perhaps Goodell should have stepped in to stop the trashing of it at the outset of the great tempest that was created by the media, in conjunction with numerous so called league insiders, over a freakin' rules infraction.
Most of the main stream media has now backpedaled from it's earliest spin on spygate, just as they are quickly backpedaling from their initial biatching about runningupthescore-gate. Too bad you can't ever really take what you initially said back in this internet 24/7 media spin age.

It's not a game! It's a multi-billion dollar business. Do business people "ease up" on their competitors? Do lawyers in the courtroom "ease up" on their opponents? If you're opponent is struggling, you crush him. People on the top of any profession have a bullseye on them - football is no different. The Pats can handle it. It is up to the other teams to determine whether they want to face the consequences of intentionally injuring players on other teams. In, the case of the Patriots, it might be the only way to beat them.
With just one Pro Bowl appearance between them, Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel will both get serious Hall of Fame consideration if the Patriots win one more Super Bowl. And they deserve it.

Jason, stay away from football as it's not your thing at all. You are much better
on the social issues side of the platter.
His point was that Elway was more physically gifted then any other quarterback and that his physical gifts took him to another level. He is not saying Elway is the greatest ever, nor do I think he implies this. He says Moss is the most physically gifted receiver, but I don't think he says Moss is better then Rice, who he says was at another level because of his passion and drive for the game.
