"We've had halftime leads, both times we lost, and it's a lesson that we can learn from those guys," Cooley said. "I think it's good they pile the points on. It teaches their guys to keep playing hard. . . . Right now they're killing everybody. I don't fault them."

Maybe Patrick Crayton should learn from Cooley. Cooley is using this experience to make him and his team better by learning from it. Crayton is on a media campaign on the Tuesday before a big division game showing he is denial that the Pats out played him two weeks earlier.

As I've said in a different post, this whole thing is about nothing more than ESPN and others chasing ratings.

Look, drama sells. We're addicted to it. There's a reason dramas are the highest grossing movies of all time (Titanic), there's a reason we have entire channels dedicated to it (TNT), there's a reason CNN and Fox News refuse to report on anything positive... drama catches the audiences' attention, it sells advertising...

The whole "Spygate" drama was played out and milked for what it was worth. They needed something new, something fresh... I know! Let's attack them for scoring too much! Let's spin it in a way which shadows them in a bad light.. like say... "running up the score!"

This is what's going on.

By and large it seems pretty clear that other coaches, other players, other teams, and even many sports writers see what the team is doing as "business as usual" and as something they themselves would do if armed with the same talent and motivation.

It's the fans of teams that have either lost to us, or have to yet face us and the ratings thirsty big media outlets that have and are blowing this out of proportion.

Give it time. I guarantee you that once this has passed they'll find something new to focus their negative energy on, to create more drama.

NE is arguably one of the least liked teams in the NFL - it makes the perfect target for an agenda driven financially biased media.

It's funny you say that because I was thinking along those lines. Female fans I think admire football for the mere awesomeness of the fight, man vs. man, the "who's going to be left standing" aspect of it all. And I think we tend to appreciate football players going all out and leaving everything on the field for 60 minutes once a week 16-19x a season. The purity of the competition, the beauty of a fight, the implementation and completion of a (game)plan or strategy. It's something to be admired.

It's funny, it's ALL you read about in the papers and on the net (running up the score), but almost EVERYONE I talk to here in Western NY (mostly Bills fans), are grudgingly admiring what we are doing and have voiced no ill feeling about the final scores.

Most still hate Us, but each week, I get more "Damn, what you guys are doing out there is special".

Mediots, it's really what it boils down to.

The big fault with Gibbs II in Washington is that he SITS on 2nd half leads. In the Giants game last month, they spotted them 17-3 at halftime(and it sure looked like the G-Men's season was all but coming to an end), but the conservative, playing not the lose playcalling was REALLY horrendous. It was nothing more than run-run-dunk.

Sounds like Cooley is starting to express his frustrations about the Skins' O.

despite all the criticisms and hatred from analysts, fans, and the whole nfl.... i gottta admit.. I LOVE THE DRAMA, THAT THIS YEAR HAVE BROUGHT TO US... very entertaintaining, a lot of subplots.... its like a mexican soap opera for men...
