i think the Pats get out to an early half time lead...then come out in the second half and play conservative. the Colts come back to win...BB says see, that is what i get for not running up the score. The Pats then win the rest of their games by at least 30 pts on the way to the Super Bowl they beat the Colts by 50.

It is all part of the master plan.

i think the Pats get out to an early half time lead...then come out in the second half and play conservative. the Colts come back to win...BB says see, that is what i get for not running up the score. The Pats then win the rest of their games by at least 30 pts on the way to the Super Bowl they beat the Colts by 50.

It seems that many in the press have developed ESP and can tell what's going through the minds of Belichick and others. I don't think this is about revenge or humilating others - at least on the coach's part.

The hallmark of the good Belichick teams is that they improve as the season wears on. So just how do you stay sharp and improve in the absence of meaningful competition?

Belichick is simply trying to get this team to play up to its talent. That's all. Anything else would be a distraction and anyone who has paid attention to what has gone on in New England since 2001 knows that distractions of any kind are not welcome.

I like Don Banks quite a bit, but don't these guys read each other's work? I mean, geezus, this same sentence has been recast about a dozen different ways in both national and local news. Ok guys, we get it. I still think the reason why the Pats are racking up the points is

The reason why the Patriots are racking up the points is...............they are that much better than everyone else offensively, they are loaded.

I remember all the buzz on this forum when the Patriots got Stallworth, Welker and Moss, all I heard was "Can you imagine how good this offense is going to be, it's going to be scary good, I cannot wait", blah, blah, blah.

Fact is THEY ARE scary good and clicking on all cylinders.

It's fairly forgiveable actually. Until/Unless something changes radically this week, this is actually the greatest offense in the history of the NFL and it's really impossible for people to wrap their heads around that. For the first couple of weeks people actually blamed the teams they played for being bad.. but the longer it goes, the more you have to wonder...

and at this point, I dont' wonder why they're runnin gup the store, i wonder why they're benig so gentle and kind. They leave a lot of points ont he board. They're not running up the score...they're holding back.

I keep posting ridiculous scores on the prediction threads... but the thing is, i really don't think they're ridiculous. I think, if the patriots actually come out this week all cylinders firing... it won't be a blowout, it'll be a massacre. I really don't think they've come out all cylinders firing yet. They've been sloppy and not sharp.

They're just so good, people assume this 'historic run' is them doing well.

Sorry, I don't buy it. I've watched the games. They've let up at the ends of most of the games. They've come out really dull a couple of times as well.

Seriously... they're not running up the score at all. There is no effyou at all. In the next couple of weeks their defense will finally get on track and stop sucking so much. Watson will come back, perhaps morris, and then.. I think, they'll start to really get good.

I suspect that the Patriots are a lot better than they've shown.

I could definitely be wrong on this, and if so, then the Colts will slap us down good. However, I tend to doubt it.

Early in the week I was calling for the "eff you" game against the Colts. Now I'm not expecting it so much. These two teams are clearly head and shoulders above the rest right now. Given the near sure-thing that there will be a playoff rematch, why stoke the fires by running it up. Belichick knows this is a must win for the Patriots to re-establish their place as the top dog in the AFC, but he can't blow it all on a small-beans midseason contest (which is what this really is).

My prediction: We jump to an early lead, Indy keeps the pace and makes it a game in the 3rd. We have a long, "go for the kill" type drive in the 4th to get a 10-14 point lead, and hold that to the finish.

34-24 feels about right to me.

The thing you've got to remember is that this Colts offense is TOO DANGEROUS to let up on. A 10 point lead is not safe against the Colts. Hell an 18 point was not safe in the AFCCG. IF the Pats get off to an early lead they WILL continue to pour it on. This writer got something right - the rule is NO MERCY, but I don't think it's out of any sense of 'vengeance' or 'indignation', it is simply because the Pats feel that is the surest way to get that W. Nothing more, nothing less.
