Run it up because you can - it's that simple. Play to score points, play to win, play to win big, and to send a message that is crystal clear: We take no prisoners. Resistance is futile. Expect the worst. If you fall behind early, abandon all hope, run for the exits.

I really think this is terrifying a lot of the NFL and this is why we see guys starting to say insane things like, "I hope we see them again" after getting crushed and humiliated. This must be quite stressful for the other teams to watch as it basically ends their delusions of grandeur, which is about all they have for most of the year.

I don't know about those guys, but if my team just gave up 500 yards and 50 points I'd want to shut F up and get to the airport as fast as possible. See you later New England, have a nice fall, pretty trees and all that.

Um, how about running it up on the Colts because of Dungy's comments? Or to eliminate any "NE won but the Colts are still a better team" talk? Or maybe to see if Polian goes berserk and assaults someone?

They have more reason to "run it up" against the Colts than most teams.

Secure a W... I don't care if its by 1 point or 31.

Run it up because the Colts have proven many times over that no lead is safe against them. You shouldn't be comfortable with a 3 touchdown lead on the Colts, because they have proven that they can make that up in about 5 minutes.

You honestly don't care whether they win by 1 or 31? You can sit there and claim that you don't think the 31 is better?

If the Patriots are running up the score on the Colts why blitz ten to smother Brady every play? Because they can.
You use good logic.

Would I enjoy the 31 more ? Of course.

But ultimately it won't matter to me, as long as they win.... by whatever margin.

This week, the Colts play undefeated New England while they too are undefeated. Next week, the Colts play a very talented and physical team that's already got 3 losses. Now, if you're New England, you run up the score to fracture the Colts psyche if possible, and leave them questioning themselves as they head into a game that could result in a second straight loss if they aren't at their best. That would give New England a de facto 3 game lead in the battle for HFA.

Smash the Colts, break their spirit, and hope for a residual effect. That's why you run it up on the Colts.

soo, what would happen if it was a 0-0 tie? would the world explode?

I keep seeing this brought up and I still don't get it. Teams already blitz Brady and he already gets the ball off before the hit most of the time. A ridiculously big blitz would just mean that he would get the pass off before the rush every single time because he'd have 3+ open targets, and that there'd be no one left to tackle the receiver.

I'd welcome this tactic. It would mean that whenever NE got the ball they'd score immediately. Brady's stats would get even better, and fewer snaps = fewer chances of getting hurt.

^ that would be the reasonable response, but the whole "It's okay to hit Brady late on every play because deliberately injuring people is eye for an eye vs. injuring someone's pride" sentiment has pretty much thrown reason out the window. Your assessment is still probably 100% spot on (I seem to recall both Manning and Brady actually saying that they LIKE to be blitzed for the reasons you outlined), but hysterical, idiot fans aren't really thinking on that level.

Realizing this, btw, makes us arrogant, self-entitled *******s, apparently. Gotta love the dynamic. The more we realize that they're idiots, the more they hate us for realizing it.

The only reason I think we should run the score up on Indy is because no lead is safe NO lead. But other than that Indy is one of the few teams I respect in the league, they weren't talking alot of smack when spy gate came out they weren't playing the my how the mighty hath fallen card. This is a respected rival and the only one we've had this decade. As for the other teams, score a hundred or try your damndest to do so.

The only reason I would like to see them run up the score is that it might, by some fluke chance, piss off Tony Dungy enough to curse. :rocker:

That would make this the best year ever.

Why run it up ? Why not?? If we run it up on any team it should be the Colts.

Zackly......... No such thing as "running up the score" on Indy. Not after last year. Unless we're up by like 50 with 3:00 left or something, NO LEAD is safe with them. It's one of 2 teams you can say that about this year. The other is us.

don't expect to be able to run it up against the Colts like you was able to do on the other teams

"IF" the Patriots win, I think I'd prefer a lower margin for the simple reason it would let the Pats know they need to keep working and improving. Would I enjoy a blowout (a blowdout:D )? Absolutely!! But it might concern me that complacency is just around the corner.
