Will someone take a cheap shot at Brady?

Former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher just made a point that has to be in the back of many Patriots fans’ minds: if the Pats keep running up the score with their starters, will someone like Tom Brady pay the price?

“It’s risk and reward,” Cowher said. “How long do you want your starters to play? You want to be careful. At some point if this continues, someone’s going to take a cheap shot. Is that worth subjecting your players to if it comes to that? You can say it’s playing football, but those are the decisions you have to make.”

Theres NFL players out there who hate Brady and the Patriots and since those guys are making tons of money and you can only get fined and suspended and not jailed for hitting and hurting Brady I see it VERY LIKELY he will get hurt if they continue to play him with 30 point leads.

A try to hurt Brady going to happen,In fact I think its inevitable
I just hope when they go after his knees he will bounce back up as usual and walk it off.

sounds to me like the media is putting a price on Bradys head. no one ever suggested that with peyton in 2004. why not take a cheap shot when you are losing 24-0? or why not do it when its 0-0 ? you get a penatly fine and have a good chance of winning game. makes more sense to do it early.

especially since the media is saying its almost forgivable. but you know what? the pats can do the same thing! goes both ways.
i think that is the biggest deterrent.

Then again, the more people keep yapping about it, Goodell might force the refs to throw an invisible shield suit around Brady and they'll call 15 yards for staring at him! As much of an ass Goodell is, he knows how imortant Brady and the Pats are to the leagues popularity so he will want to protect him.

Great point in the 2000 afccg the steelers dove for Brady's knees every chance they got until they finely knocked him out of the game. I never thought it was an accident what happened to Palmer. Von Olenhoffen crawled until he got got close enough to lunge at Palmer's knees. I watched that replay many times and never could understand why more wasn't made of it. To me it was pretty blatant.

Great point, Cowher knows by experience all about the intent-to-injure-Brady strategy. He had Joey Porter go after Brady low not once but 3 times in the 2001 AFC title game until Porter finally pleased his coach with a low kill-shot to KO Brady from game late in the first half.

As I mentioned in the other thread, this strategy wouldn't work. Brady would have 3+ guys open and get the ball off before the blitz got to him. No one would be back to tackle that receiver, who would run for a score. Every NE possession would last one play. Fewer plays = fewer opportunities to get hurt.

Seriously-why did this whole "Running up the score" even come up in the first place?

The Pats haven't exactly done it every week. In the Dallas game, they ended up scoring that late TD b/c the Cowboys called a TO. Otherwise, the clock would have ran out.
