Gimme a break. It's so weak basing this on race. The sixties are over, man.

Yeah, the Dungy/Lovie media effect is a bit much...but it is almost always positive and not restricted to black media members. I don't like media gushing in general (some of the Pats coverage is a bit hard to take), but I have a hard time seeing any negative racial overtones with Dungy. If someone does, maybe they are looking a little to hard to find them.

Why is it so shocking that people are picking the 7-0, defending champion, Indianapolis Colts? AT the RCA Dome?

I agree. I would expect at at least half would. This is no give me game. It isn't even that important in the grand scheme of things (HFA or not).

because the colts are overrated. This isnt going to be a close game, the colts will lose by more than 21 points just like everyone else.

It isn't. The Colts have been quietly putting together just as strong a run as the Patriots, and they ARE the defending champs. While the Pats "strength of victory" is greater, the Colts opposition has a better w-l record. I think the Pats will win in a close one, but to think the Colts are overmatched is ridiculous, IMHO.

The sports media are just like referees who get caught up in the swell of
emotion of a hometown crowd and make calls for the home team. Right now the groundswell story is that the Pats have been running up the score on innocent teams. These analysts most of whom do not watch complete Pats' games (but see only clips) are caught up in the running up the score vibe and are rooting for Dungy's Colts. Truth is, anyone who has watched the Pats over the years knows the Pats have always throttled down late as opposed to running it up.

One thing which is irritating me is the disparity between black and white pundits in their picks, or bias, just because of Tony Dungy.
Great point. This bias does factor in.

overrated?

not sure how they are overrated. Won 13 in a row at home.Beat us 3 times. are 7-0 this yr.defending champs. if they are overated then this game shouldnt be even broadcast.
As long as they have manning they will be always a well deserved good team. All the talk about the colts defense and stuff is just superficial. Manning makes that team just like brady does ours.

No...you are kidding me? Merril Hoge picked the Colts over the Pats??? Who would have guessed that...<sarcasm>...he is such a freaking tool...I am really surprised that Schlereth picked the Pats...he usually picks against them too.

To his credit though, he (Hoge) was appalled by whining about running up the score....
