ESPN ticker just reported that A-Rod is opting out of his contract to become a free agent. The exodus begins!!!:singing: :bricks: :rocker:

SCREW A-FRAUD.. The only reason he's announcing it NOW is because he wants the sportlight on HIM and not on the World Series.

I hope that the Sox tell him F-U and re-sign LOWELL.

I don't want A-FRAUD on the SOX.

I hope he doesn't come here ... it will be one and done.

Tonight i go to bed and I will pray harder than ever for the good Lord
to bestow upon the NY Mets the one human curse known as A-Rod.

Yeah more bush-league, attention-whoring garbage from Afraud.

Resign Lowell, I don't want this punk Gay Rod on the Red Sox. We don't need to pay 30 million for a pansy who chokes every year.

Pay-Fraud is more like it.

What amazes me, though, is that teams are willing to cough up $25-30M for a player who--while he's certainly awesome in the regular season--is pretty much guaranteed to cough up a hairball in the clutch.

And f#)%& him for the timing of his announcement. At least he's getting ripped for it.

I loved hearing Gammons ripping arod last night for the timing of his announcement. He said something to the tune of 'this is what you can expect from him, it's all about me and not the team'!

We don't need him, do we.............

First off, Boras is the attention whore who made the announcement. A-Rod's problem is letting Boras do it. I bet he's loving the abuse he's getting today for his agent's doings.

I can't believe how quickly some fans forget. The Sox didn't even make the playoffs last year. I'd be happy to have him around to make sure that doesn't happen again any time soon.

There's no way he makes 30M/yr. Remember when Damon had an offer for 7 years and Daisuke was worth 20M/yr on top of the posting fee? Don't buy the Boras hype.

A-Rod obviously just wanted out of NY. The most money was probably going to come from an extension with NY (with a 20-30M subsidy from Texas) and they didn't bother negotiating.

As for the Sox, I don't think anyone over 28 is worth a >5 year contract. Those are the kind of deals the Yankees have smartly gotten away from.

So I'd love A-Rod on the Sox for 4 years at 20M/yr. I'd settle for 5 years at 23/yr. Of course neither of those get it done.

and don't forget A-rod's clubhouse chemistry. He'd fit right in with his team first mentality. Yea, its not about ME, its the team. You'd probably take Chamberlain over Russell too.
