IS THIS A JOKE???
Samuel is a very good cornerback... over the course of a season he will make some big plays and shut down a lot of defenders.
Moss changes the Patriots from a good offense to the greatest offense in the history of the NFL, by a sizeable margin.
One Moss is worth an infinite amount of Samuels.
Let's review this situation logically:

By not exercising options on Stallworth and Washington, the salary cap savings for the New England Patriots will be approximately $12 million for 2008. That's enough to sign both Randy Moss and Asante Samuel, especially if Moss is willing to take the home town discount.
I have noticed that as well this season.Hobbs is underperforming defensively
Why? Is it because I found a logical alternative to your query?Don't fight the hypothetical.

what?!
did u not see us go so far with CALDWELL and Gaffney and Brown at WR. Now its Stallworth and Welker added..minus Caldwell and maybe a better Jackson if hes got the playbook down.
Moss is great..love him but we've played with bad WRs..Hobbs is underperforming defensivly while Samuel is SHUT DOWN. take away Samuel and our D is a lot worse.
Ummm Moss are you kidding me?
We were ready to play this season with Samuel holding out and we would still be in great shape. Moss turns changes this team from great to greatest ever imo. I can't believe it's even a close call for some people here. I know Samuel is the sexy pick for fans that want to show they're more knowledgable about the game to go with the defensive player but let's get serious. Also, remember Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, etc.? I think Belioli has already shown that they consider these types to be role players rather than "skill" players and they have no problem letting the former go if the price is too high. Branch is a different story because he wasn't the talent that Brady made him look like and they knew it. Plus Samuel is great in our system and is smart at jumping routes, but I'm fairly confident most of that is coaching v. raw skill and we could replace him. If Moss wants some ridiculous contract let him go, but if he really wants to be a Patriot, pay thyat myan his myoney.
so far, from the results this year...i would have to say
its gotta be Moss, b/c he lets the rest of the wr's do a lot better...
