Look it is not our job to stop ourselves, it's their job to stop us. All week we heard how great that secondary was. Redskins fans came in here telling us how great their front seven was...AND THEY STILL COULDN'T STOP US!!
We will stop scoring when the game is over. If a defense manages to stop us in the process, good for them.

In the list of the best Belichick-answers-stupid-questions lines, that is near the top. His disdain for the media is so palpable. God, I love that man.

I agree with you STFARMY,but ,to BB's credit when the media types ask him a decent question ,they will usually get a reasonable answer.when they ask stupid questions,they get no answers.This ticks many off,as they dont get their Dennis Green or Jim Mora sound bites to run over and over again.

What he said was "What do you want us to do, FAKE a field goal?"

I guess the implication is that the most important thing was to keep running clock, and a FG wouldn't have done that.

There's no doubt we're running up the score IMO.

Two reasons :

1) We need to beat the Colts and the way you do that is by outscoring them. Belichick is always very aggressive against the Colts and has his team used to scoring 40+ which will help this week.

2) The league "ran up the score" on the Patriots on Spygate. They could have confiscated the camera, levied a small fine and made the Patriots red faced. That's a 13-7 win over the Patriots. But the league went for 42-0 with the huge fine, continuous scrutiny, #1 pick. They ran up the score, we're running up the score; too bad.

On one side it's the defenses job to stop them. The Skins had 3+ hours to stop them and didnt. On another side, it is akin to sayin "FU" which can be seen as disrespectful. And even on another side, playing "mercy" could also be seen as disrespectful. There are ample arguments for all depending on your stance.
