The trade deadline has passed...

if it's next season.... zach thomas is at the end. to many concussions. taylor would be a nice fit but the pats have a bunch of IL's and his contract is pretty big

Taylor is going to have to rework his contract regardless of what team he will be playing for next year. I do see him in a Pats uniform next year as the "elephant" on the defense... a more truer replacement for Willie McGinest.

I would say that if Taylor ends up in NE first, then I would expect his brother-in-law to actually tag along... concussions or not, there's nothing to lose with getting Thomas too.

Do you think the Fins will actually trade Taylor to us? I sure don't...

I agree. There is no way they trade him to the Pats and make the Pats stronger

Wayne's words may be getting misconstrued. If they ask out he may release them in a salary cutting move that is typical of total rebuilds. In a trade scenario they can pretty much control the situation, and no matter how much they may want out neither is going to accept a trade to another team unless it presents an opportunity to seriously contend for the playoffs if not a SB. And I doubt Wayne, who is now hyper sensitive to the fan base and media, would want to get into a protracted and potentially acrimonious departure situation with these two any more than they would want to. But he's opened the door publicly now which would pretty much insulate them were they to simple ask for their release.

I don't think this will happen, but I don't agree that they wouldn't trade them to us. I hate to sound arrogant, but it's just the truth: they're so far behind us that by the time they're competing with us Taylor will have been retired for a few seasons.

The coach of the NY Rats is probably buring up his cell phone battery.

Just for point of reference, I know that. I didn't mean NOW (unless they get released.)

If they're smart, they hang up the phone if the Pats ever call. I would love to see Zach Thomas in his last years in this defense. No way they would be that stupid. Taylor, he's a beast but where do you play him? Only if he can play OLB, that is if your sitting Colvin or Vrabel. No way would you start him over Seymour or Warren. The guy has no place on this team. Zach Thomas may be short, but I have no doubt he would be a beast like Seau has been.

Vrabel can play ILB ... he's done it in the past.

Yeah, but it really takes a lot out of him to play ILB long-term. The last two seasons may have cut a year off his career.

In any case, though: Dolphins. The gift that keeps on giving. :singing:

Give us a 1st for Taylor and a 2nd for Thomas and I'll be happy to let them play in NE for 1 season.

No . . . but we will give a conditional 7th rounder for Ted Ginn.

Throw in Marino and we'll send you a snow plough.

Yeah, a 7th for Ginn, some move that would be. I just laugh when people declare a player a bust when he's only played 7 games.

Everyone was all over Saban for taking Ronnie and not Caddy after the first 2 games when Caddy had 2 100 yard games and Ronnie was struggling big time.
