Peter King (Dale and Holley) said a couple of interesting things. One was how Ray Lewis rules that Ravens locker room with an iron fist. That situation is about Ray, and Ray, and You Can Call Me Ray. I find it foreign, weird, and something that makes me want to find a barf bag.

King thinks the trip to Baltimore will be a dangerous game for us but I wanted to shout, "What about that offense, Peter?" I mean, how are they going to score points?

One thing he said that did make sense was that the Giants could be locked into a fight for survival when they play us, and that we'd be sitting there with a 100 game lead in the division. What do you do?

Good question. You don't want to risk injury, and if we have nothing to gain from winning the game (although we might if the Colts are keeping pace) then it could be a L. The Giants do have that kind of team, I think. Maybe.

The other thing he said that I thought made some sense is that neither the Colts or the Pats should go undefeated because they do have some tough road games, etc. on the schedule. Well, yes and, well, no, Peter.

The Pats have had a road game with "the best team in the NFC" already, so I don't think that tough road games are necessarily that, err, tough. I suppose it does give you pause, but I'd be more fearful as a Colts fan facing down the Chargers in SD late in the season since Shawn Merriman has owned them in the past. But the Pats facing down the Ravens? I just don't see the point. Ray Lewis will be sucking oxygen by the half.

I really think the Giants are a worse threat, even more than the Steelers or Ravens.

That Ravens offense is atrocious and the defense cant stop the pass now or rush the passer since trevor pryce went down. That team is so overrated. I want to throw up in my mouth everytime someone calls that a 16-0 stopper. With Ray's old bones, he might not even be on the field for that game.

I really think it will depend heavily on if the Pats have anything to play for. That's far, far down the road, though...

Wait, did King go an entire week without mentioning "Cameragate"? Are there really snowballs in hell?

The Patriots will demolish the ****y Ravens. We beat them 24-3 (or something like that) in the rain last time, and while I realize that was at home, this is - as of now - a much better team. We will destroy them. They can't score.

IAN, please - the idea that on a messageboard we can't use the word "****Y" (rhymes with rocky, starts with c) is F-ing ridiculous. Can this be fixed?

Sounds remarkably like the team we're playing this Sunday.

You mean "kocky"?

we wont know if any team is "dangerous" until one of them actually makes us play in the 4th quarter. Dallas came closest but the 27-3 run to close the game was mighty impressive.

The only possible drawback to winning the we have is that being in a "tight" game at the end will be a new situation for this team. I suspect it wouldn't be a problem for Brady given past history, but there is still a little fear of the unknown factor. How will everyone else respond.

The ravens can't score and who knows if there will be anything to play for when the giants roll around.

Early on I thought the Ravens game would be a dangerous one and nothing has changed my mind in that regard. After teh exchange of words between him and Thomas I can see the Ravens being more then hyped up for that game. I just invision the Ravens offense and special teams making just enough plays to stay in it and maybe get a few breaks in the end to win. No way do I mark down the Baltimore road trip as a W right now. That game is up in the air in my opinion.

I think playing the Steelers the week AFTER the Ravens game is the most dangerous game. It will be a short week, you get in around 3 or 4 am on Tuesday and have to then fend off a very physical tough Steelers team. Look at how flat we came out against Buffalo following the Cincy game.

That two game stretch could be as much about not getting injured as it is about staying undefeated.

I still think that no matter how good a team is, it's unreasonable to believe they can go 16-0, so I agree with what King was saying in that sense (I haven't agreed with much he's said lately).

I think we can have our cake and eat it too. I imagine a situation where, down the stretch, Brady plays the first quarter or so, puts up 3-4 scoring drives and takes a seat. He should be able to stake us to a big enough lead that one of the Matts and some rotation of subs on Defense should be able to hold on. I know Cassel through the pick in Miami, but I honestly think if we had kept him in we still would have won the game. and like the miami game, you can always put tom back in for a series if things get dicey. but it's certainly possible to put a game plan together whereby we minimize the chance for Brady to get hurt but also keep us on pace to go undefeated. It's not a given obviously, but I think it's possible.

Sorry, no way Baltimore is a threat this year. They are on their bi annual dive into the cellar of their division. Its been years since they put together back to back play off seasons, and they haven't won a playoff game since '01.
Baltimore has yet to beat a top 10 offense. All three of their losses were against top 10 offenses. 3 of their 4 wins were against teams that are 29, 30 and 32 in defense. They are not a threat, just an old bully that still thinks they got it. They are already arguing amongst themselves, one step away from imploding. Lewis is calling out Billick and vice versa on their radio shows this week.

I've said this before: if the Pats go into a meaningless game against the Giants at 15-0, I believe Belichick would go all out to win, regardless of any risks. Even if he says he wouldn't. Even if he doesn't think he would now.

If we go 18-1, we would only arguably be the greatest team in NFL history. You know those old Dolphins will never shut up, and the Bears, Steelers, Cowboys and 49ers would certainly all stake their claim. But go 19-0 and you shut them all up.

We're talking about pro football immortality here. You know coach appreciates what this means; remeber congratualting his team when they broke the old win-streak record?

As I recall, we popped the Ravens pretty good a couple years or so ago in Foxborough. It was a wet, muddy, game. The Ravens haven't changed much since then either...

Maybe, but more likely teh Giants will be in the playoffs without a bye, and a win against the Pats would not get them a bye. Like we were when we let Cassel play the fins Week 17.

Most teams in that scenario, looking at three playoff games to get into the Superbowl, choose to treat week 17 as a bye week and rest players.

BB will not rest players because we will have a bye, as he played everyone against SF in 2004 in week 17.

One week off is good. Two weeks off is too much.

Of course, the Giants rest starters, haters around the league will cry their eyes out as it will the the last game of our perfect regular season enroute to 19-0.
