I have held off posting this on the chance that things would change by the end of the week, they haven't.

The Redskins are a good team with a 4-2 record coming into Gillette. Yet, they are 16.5 point underdogs. That is insulting. I know that is just gambling odds and has nothing to do with the teams. The spead is designed to get more action by gamblers.

However if the shoe was on the other foot, the Patriots players would be burning inside. They would be a little extra fired up just to prove the odds makers wrong. I think the Redskiins are feeling that way now.

So we may see a real football game this Sunday instead of the cake walks we have been seeing. I know that the Cowboys went ahead of the Patriots in the 3rd period, but did anyone not think the Patriots would come back in a big way.

Look for a tough game on Sunday.

I expect the 'Skins D to really come to play Sunday. If the O can match their intensity it should make for an interesting game.

Vegas makes a sh!t load of money and are in the business make a shi!t load of money of suckers. I don't think oddmakers give a royal rat's tail what Washington fans feel. There is a line, and there is a reason for that line being at so wide.

If the line was 3 (at Home for the Patriots), they'd get zero action. Those people aren't stupid. Even at 16, I'm not blowing my money saying they cover. No one else has, what makes Washington so special. They are a decent NFC team. Which means against an ELITE AFC team, odds are good they get pasted. Vegas know this already.

They suck. They play in the NFC. Miami took them to OT in their stadium. The Pats will play just well enough to win, but I'm not worried.

True 'nuff. This spread isn't so much about the game itself as about the Patriots covering every spread that's thrown at them week after week. To attract some money on the other side at this point takes a crazy boatload of points.

I understand everything that you said. However, the Skins are 4-2 and they, being professional football players, have to feel insulted by that.

What do you think Rodney would be saying/thinking if it was reverse? It wouldn't matter if it was just gambling odds or not, the 16.5 point spread would be posted on every locker in the Patriots locker room.

This is what I think - they'll just keep offering a huge spread until the Pats don't beat it. Either way they make $$, because on the one hand you have the Skins fans insulted by this spread, sure their team is going to beat it, and then you have all those confident Pats fans (or just Pats bettors) who haven't lost yet. Either way Vegas makes a ton of $$, which is all they care about.

Hopefully the Skins are one of those teams who think the Pats are ridiculous the way they turn everything into bulletin board material and they would never stoop to such things (yeah, right)!

Go Pats!!

Right.......... I would be if I were them. I'm sure the Miami player (suck as they might when they play collectively) felt extremely embaressed as PROFESSIONALS to get beat the way they did. As much as it sucks, that's the way the bobble bounces.

As the "man with the plan" tells us - It is what it is.

2 of those 4 wins:

Redskins 16 Miami 13 at FedEX (In OVERTIME!)

Redskins 19 Arizona 17 at FedEX (Warner playing with 1 arm)

They've played 4 at home, 2 on the road. They have 1 road win over the less than mediocre Eagles. They've already lost a home game to the Giants.

In sum, the worst 4-2 team in the NFL by far. These ain't the Steelers.

I agree, I've been saying all week this will be the toughest test our offense has faced. 16+ points favorite is outrageous, it's going to be a closer game than that.

Don't be too sure about that. The skins may have a better D than any team that NE has faced, but they are most certainly not a better team than Dallas. Frankly, I would expect SD and Cleve to give them a run for their money.

This game may start closer than most have, but NE covering is not outrageous at all.

Don't be fooled by their 4-2 record. The Skins are a fraud. Pats cover easy.

Well, to be honest, now I'm trying to come up with a score that seems reasonable to me, the Pats pretty much cover every time  Even against the tough secondary, it's hard to imagine the Pats scoring less than 28 points and hard to imagine the Skins scoring more than 17....soo I see your point.

Still, I do think it will be slightly lower scoring and therefore be slightly harder for the Pats to cover.

The skins do have good defense. I think our defense plays a role in this one - we have to keep the Skins from running on us. If we can do that three and out for alot of series and we can keep the pressure on the skins D.

It might be very good but can it stop the Patriots over and over? That's the question. I say we focus on the running game more unless they load the box so we can tire them out by the end of the game.

You need to stop looking at who we have played and look at the matchups. Our strength is the back 7 on defense.

We have not matched up well with the Giants style over the last 2 yrs. They are one of the few teams that have run the ball enough to keep us off balance. You on the other hand will be throwing a lot more. It will be very interesting to see how your WR's take these hits. We will eliminate the 3 play drives. We will see if Brady has the patience to take 10 plays to score.

Anyone who's ever watched Brady play already knows the answer to this.

Someone doesnt watch Skins games.

You were doing OK until this line. Then you pooped your pants.

Wow, does this show how far the offense has come? Through 6 seasons and 3 Superbowls, Brady was the dink-and-dunk passer, the "game manager" who "didn't have the arm to go deep." Now after 7 games of fireworks, he's the impatient gunslinger! :D

How do you know we'll be throwing a lot more? Maroney is now off the injury report and is coming into this game nice and rested. Don't be surprised if he goes over 100.
