OK, that thread seems to go on and on and many do not want o get invloved with it. However you do have an opinion so you can now vote on the subject.

Are you offended by Red Sox chants at Patriots games?

This is a very serious subject so we need a reminder from a very serious person.

Let's require voters to be over the age of 18. Under 18's vote on emotion. While this vote requires intellect.:eek:

Disclaimer: The following rant is not directed at PatsNutMe...The insecurity Patriots fans have towards the Red Sox borders on pathetic and vice versa. BB opened his press conference yesterday with a congratulations of the Red Sox, Boston teams should have some sense of unity as they share the same fan base. I'm all for keeping Red Sox threads off the main board, but some people here have a paranoid, mean-spirited view of anyone who roots for other Boston sports teams.

Well said.

Its Boston sports people... Most Bostonanians were Sox Fans well before they were Patriots fans (age wise). But in Bosten we cherrish all our teams. How could anyone get upset that this city is so passionate about all our sports? We should feel special to have our baseball team in the world series again, our Patriots to be undefeated and looking unbeatable, our Celtics looking good again with the Big 3, BC being undefeated, and even the Bruins having a winning record.

It's a great time to be a Boston sports fan. SHOW IT!!! Root for the sox. Root for the Patriots, root for BOSTON.

Well said. Although I'm sure Tunescribe and co. will find a way to twist BB's words.

Rigth now, the vote is 21-21 and 7 say it's OK if Red Sox fans chant "let go Patriots".

We are not talking about local players and coaches supporting each other. We are talking about fans at games. Rant all you want, the votes will tell the story.:rocker:

I am abstaining on the grounds that my party is not represented in this wholly unfair election.

I am not offended by the chant, but I don't think it should be done at a football game. I do take extreme joy out of seeing a road game for the Pats that is so utterly humiliating for the hosts that their fans leave and traveling Pats fans are audible through the television broadcasts with a chant like this, though. It's great, but it can also be represented with a Patriots chant.

Am I missing something? Some of you guys are talking like the fans were ONLY chanting "Lets go Red Sox"

They were rooting 95% of the game for the Patriots. When we were destroying Miami, Red Sox chants starting coming up. I think it just goes to show how passionate we are for ALL of our sports. If you aren't a Red Sox fan, you don't belong in Boston or NE. If you are a Sox fan but don't like Red Sox chants during a Patriot blowout when we were one game away from the World Series, you're not a real fan.

Statements as these are as foolhardy as the side who thinks the Red Sox and Pats should have absolutely no mingling of fanbases. There are people who just don't like baseball, mind you, and that is hardly a reason for them to move to a different state.

From yesterday's BB press conference:

Q: Do you have a World Series prediction?
BB: "No. My focus is on Washington and that’s where it needs to be. Major League Baseball is an anachronism whose time has come and gone, and the sooner fans in this area come to terms with that harsh reality, the better. I can tell you without reservation that myself, as well as the players here, absolutely do not appreciate baseball chanting at our games either home or away. But back to the Redskins. They’ve won four and they could have easily won a couple more, so we’ll have our hands full. That’s all I’m worried about right now."

Link? :bricks:

I was at the Miami game Sunday and a bunch of Pats fans next to me were chanting "lets go red sox" from the time they kicked off. I thought it was pretty stupid, I mean I didn't hear one "lets go patriots" chant? Why is that? Out of towners must think we are ******s for chanting about a baseball team at a football game.

One thing that no one picked up on that would have been clever is this... Everytime the Dolphins get a first down the announcer says "Thats another Dolphins..." and the crowd yells "First Down". I was waiting for someone to yell "Thats another Patriots...." and then have everyone yell "TOUCH Down".

Guess you had to be there :(

I think it's pretty stupid to be at a sporting event cheering for a different sport. I remember listening to Tom Brady last time this happened at a home game when red sox fans cheered at Gillette and the players were not happy about it as it didn't mesh with the game.
There is no problem rooting for the team of your choice but lets have some feeling for the players at the sporting event where we are at.

Ummm. Anybody see something wrong with the poll results?
Not offended = 82%
Offended = 50%

Total = 132% ?
WTF?

I think that has something to do with it being a multiple choice poll where you can select more than one answer....or something like that.
