I thought this was amusing for this little anecdote from Sunday:

After Miami completed an early second-quarter 79-yard touchdown drive that cut the Patriots’ lead to 14-7 in a game that the Pats eventually won, 49-28, New England linebacker Mike Vrabel said Belichick was so upset with the defense that he missed Willie Andrews’ ensuing 77-yard kickoff return for a score because he was giving a heated speech to the Patriots’ defenders.

It was funny hearing him talk about it on WEEI - they were trying to correct some things on the sideline but didn't have time before the defense had to go back out on the field due to the return. He also was saying how Pees used to do a lot of the Front Seven in game work when he was the LB coach but now, as coordinator, Pees works more with the DBs as the DB coach is up in the booth so Belichick and Pepper get more of the Front Seven in game stuff now.

I found this statement from Vrabel even more interesting.

“He said he’s on a quest for good football, for great football,” Vrabel said after the game. “He’s holding us to a higher standard and we just made a few mistakes on the unbalanced line.”

Wow that gives me chills.

If you watch some of the HC'ing cheerleaders on the sidelines who seldom seem to be truly dealing with issues but rather pouting through mistakes or reaming some poor slob like it's all his fault while celebrating momentary accomplishments like fan boys, that is at the root of what is wrong with most teams. BB seldom shows emotion before a game is over, if then. And he neither tosses his players nor strokes them in public. He treats them like adult professionals paid to do a job, and at the end of the day they respond to that accordingly (or they are gone from here). His less successful peers are only too willing to share with the media whether it's feeding the ill advised hype or liberally fingering/reaming the goats. That's why their teams are maddeningly inconsistent or fail to improve while Bill's always get better and more consistent as the season rolls on.

Actually, for BB there is no perfection. He realizes that once you reach perfection, then the only place to go is 'complacency'. And complacency leads to failure. So BB is always (and will always) be raising the bar another notch.

And you know, this is nothing new. A guy called Lombardi did very well with exactly the same management approach.
