all last night kornhole kept yapping how mannings agenda was to have a big game to show hes still here and better than brady. neither jaworski or tirico would pick up on it, but he still kept up the nonsense. both of these great qb's are focused on winning games, getting to the super bowl and winning it. they dont go into a game saying "im going to show so and so up". what a bunch of crap. get cornhole out of the box and leave it to people that know something about the game

Why is he on there, is there a reason?

The gay love for Brady episode at the Dallas game was pretty bizarre TV.

What doyou expect. Kornhole is there for one reason, and one reason only... To stir the pot. He is like a troll on a rival message board ( ha ban me). The NFL is all about the rating's.. Just like ESPN.

Anyone notice how Scott kept asking why Brady had much better passing stats then Manning? Since Sammy went down in Dallas the new trend is to say we dont have a running game. Ob we have a running game, but that is the latest anti pat trend the trolls are latching on to.

"stir the pot" gets old during the game, when one wants good analysis about whats going on on the field. if they want provocative and in this case stupid comments, they can have a guest come on for 10 minutes. like kimmel last week, charles barkley last year etc.

I agree. I hate Tony. I would much rather have a guy like Steve Young in his place. I dont realy like the whole comedy thing the NFL is trying to bring to the table. Kornhole is a bonehead.

I saw the pregame last night - they showed a shot of Peyton....and I'm not kidding.....sniffing and rubbing a football under his nose. At that moment I realized I simply don't like him because he's such a goober. Probably the same way a redneck would hate Brady because he's so "pretty" and what-not. The only thing these QB's have in common is that they're great....after that they are as different as night and day.

Im surprised one of the announcers didnt tell us Manning had a special connection with the football that only he could feel.

Losers.

It was getting beyond distracting for me by the end of the game. Seemed like every other word out of his mouth was about Brady/Manning, and not the MNF game that was actually being played. Unless the guy has a prewritten script in front of him aka his opening monologue, he hasn't got anything to add on the game being played. He is incapable of thinking and talking at the same time about the relevant events in which he is supposed be commenting on!!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, get rid of this guy!!!!!

Sometimes I feel like they are trying to motivate the colts. On NFL countdown or whatever it is Hodge was saying how good the pats where with a almost inflammatory tone. I don't understand why the media is hyping the crap out of this stuff.

Kornhole took it way to far last night. Border line turn off the tv far.

I had to turn the game off. That was an incredibly interesting match up that,
with a couple of people who could talk 'football', would have been excellent
watching. As it was, it was painful beyond belief. I would rather have had
Tim the Toolman and his sidekick doing the play by play. What anyone sees
in Jaws is beyond me as well. He might have been good in his past but he
sucks as much as the rest of them these days. :(

I DID turn off the tv. I couldnt take it anymore. Why didn't someone whisper in his ear to tone it down.....hes not even going to be covering the colts/pats game...how about a little more emphasis on the game you ARE covering and a little less man love. I liked kornheiser until last night...now I wish he would go away

It has nothing to do with "stirring the pot," it has to do with bringing football to the masses.

MNF has always been about creating entertainment, not just for diehard football fans, but for casual or nonfans as well. ESPN has made the determination that it will try to pander to that broader audience by creating storylines that that broader audience will identify with. Since that audience won't understand football analysis anyway, why would they waste their time? The 3rd guy in the MNF booth has always been kind of an Everyman that could locate the game within a broader context. The real football fans suffer, but they know we will end up watching anyway.

i think jaws provides good analysis of what makes plays work, problem is cornhole has to dominate the stage. and the more insightful jaws comments, the more tony cant follow, the more he changes the subject back to "manning's goal tonight is sending a message he's better than brady" nonsense

Looks like it's time to revive my campaign:

Yes, he's there to "stir the pot." But he's not provocative, he's just irritating. During a lackluster game he's enough to push a lot of viewers toward their remote controls.

Agreed. I also think its more a question of appealing to the masses, and entertainment vs intelligent football commentary. Not so much trying to motivate competition, but to hook more viewers that are less informed to engage in (to borrow from Jr.) Oprahizing football games. I'd like to believe that more viewers have become educated to the game, and are looking for better than the incessant sound bites that Kornhole keeps spewing.

what a dim-wit korn is. as if anyone spoke about anyting else for the last how many years ...then how good manning is. now of course its how long Brady has in the pocket....as if manning hasnt had lots of time to pass. but of course with manning its the reads he makes that gives him time.

the only thing that they should be talkng about is look what Brady can do when he finally has good wr's.

PFT noticed ...

DID PATS PLAY ON MONDAY NIGHT?

Though the schedule said "Indy at Jax" and the teams were wearing the colors and logos of the Colts and the Jagwires (we assume that's their name now since so many of the sock puppets call them that), we could have sworn that the Patriots were on the field last night.

We thought that the Pats were in the house because the Cecil B. DeMille production (who knew the "B" stood for "Bristol"?) that covered the game for ESPN was endlessly talking about the team from New England.

CBS, as was pointed out in our Live Blog of the game, was surely thrilled with all of the hype for the looming showdown between the last two undefeated teams in the league.

Still, it was at times a pathetic display. A league source contacted PFT headquarters during the game and complained loudly about the fixation on a team that wasn't in the building, and suggested that more NFL types should follow Peyton Manning's lead and hit the mute button during MNF broadcasts.

One guy who's not buying the hype is Steve Young, who debated Stu Scott and E. Smith during the postgame show about the significance of the Week Nine contest between the Pats and the Colts. Young frequently derided the ESPN hype machine, and made the astute point that the game will not define the season for either team, because both franchises have the maturity to overcome a loss and to realize that the "real" game between them is looming in January.

With that said, it's only 12 days until the biggest . . . game . . . ever.

Until January.
