I haven't been keeping up with the Skins - is he technically active, injured, or just riding the bench? I wonder what reception he would get from the crowd if he were to make a catch (big 'if' there) :)

I think he'd get a good reception. He was quiet and steady and tried hard when he was here. No need to boo him; I even felt bad the way the team let him go. Didn't he make the roster on the final cut-down day and then get cut the NEXT day? Must suck to think you've made it and then get that news. I don't know whether he's doing anything in Washington; haven't heard his name.

no need to boo, in fact we should be proud of the way he came in here for a year and produced as much as they could. no ill will

Absolutely. The guy worked his ass off and filled a huge vacuum for us. Thanks to him we had a stable WR situation by years end, enough offense to make it to the Super Bowl IMO.

Caldwell was nothing but classy (man I'm starting to hate that word!)when he was here and I'd give him an nice hand upon his return.

Caldwell did his best while he was here. To bo him would be crazy. Not his fault he is not that good of a wr. I think we should cheer him. Make the skins think we have a soul before they see the evil brady and co are going to put on em.

I thought he'd beat out Kelly Washington. It's hard to believe that he couldn't have been more of a contributor than Washington, at least on offense. Maybe Kelley is a ST bonus, and some depth. There's no way that Reche competes with Stallworth, and Welker has the slot. With Jackson returning you do wonder if Reche had any shot at all. Troy is supposed to return too. Talk about a wealth of receivers.

The decision to cut Caldwell was all about money. Three relatively even receivers, one considerably more expensive.

Why anyone would even THINK of booing a player who FAR exceeded all expectations of him last year is beyond me.

Guy deserves a huge ovation. If only 5 other players exceeded the expectations last year as much as Reche Caldwell did, the Pats would've had their fourth ring.

Doesn't look like Caldwell is doing all that well down in DC. Zero catches thus far. Even Keenan McCardell, whom the skins signed a couple weeks later, has a few catches.

Don't blame Reche for that. The Redskins have the oddest habit of acquiring players and then using them improperly if indeed they ever use them. When I heard Reche was going to the Redskins I wondered if he even see the field.

Some folks remember Caldwell for a dropped pass. I remember his tremendous catch against the Chargers and the huge hit he took in mid-season and how he returned in that same game.

He's a player and deserves a cheer when he walks out on the field (but not when he makes a catch for the skins). :)

He might be hurt. I think I remember him on the sidelines last game in street clothes.

He's not hurt, he's just not been active yet for a Skins game, can't crack the game day 45, thus the zero catches.

The guy did indeed exceed our expectations here, but I'm not sure where this 'he was a hard worker' sentiments are coming from, when there were grumblings of the opposite. When the Pats cut him and the Jets brought him in before week one, reporters asked Vrabel if Reche could help the Jets figure out the Pats defense. Vrabel said (paraphrasing) that 'Reche didn't know the offense when he was here, how is he going to help them with the defense ?'

Then of course there were the arrest rumors.

I'm not saying to boo the guy... but a standing ovation for a JAG seems a bit much. That is of course if he's even active.

We only picked him up for this game. Insider info, etc... Don't be surprised if he's dropped in the next few weeks.
So Joe Gibbs wasted a spot on the 53 for seven weeks on a guy no one else in the league wanted so he could pump him for information for a week 8 game ? Add the fact that he was cut here because he couldn't grasp the new terminology for the offense and you've got one genius move.

I haven't seen him yet in a Redskins uniform. Is he acutally on that team?

I think Gibbs record speaks for itself, inside and outside of football. I'm sure most (expect maybe you) would consider him a sports genius.

The redskins are facing a 7-0 team, looks like that caldwell pickup will be pretty important. Good work Joe, way to think ahead.

53 man roster, 45 active on game day.

caldwell = inactive

15 years ago Joe Gibbs was a genius.

These days, Joe Gibbs' genius has to do with drafting and restrictor plates.

Why will the Caldwell pick-up be important ? You've said that but you haven't said why.
