I'd love to see this and see Maroney and Faulk eat this up.

The NFL needs to accept that they can't stop this offense, only way is taking brady out. They tried double coverage on Moss and blew up that blueprint.

I just wonder if Brady has all day because teams are only rushing 4 guys and dropping everyone back into coverage.

Anyone know the percentage Brady has been blitzed?

And give Brady all day to sit there behind this offensive line and pick apart those 5 DBs

We use one with one lineman and 6 DBs on a regular basis.

I like ditka's idea better, except I'd make Rodney one of the OLB .

4 DLs, 4 LBs, and 6 DBs is more like it.

If the NFL wants parity, they'll let Pats opponents field 14 defenders against the Pats offense. :)

Except some of our linebackers are the size of defensive ends. AD is nearly as big as Jarvis Green, Vrabel is pretty big and Colvin can play defensive end also

I loved the 85 Bears but Ditka took a team with the most dominant defense ever and went on to win exactly one Superbowl. Then he ran New Orleans into the ground, his track record speaks for itself.

HOF Player - Yes
NFL passed him by 30 years ago - Yes

Get back to the home old man and don't forget your Depends.

As a dime defense? Good

As a base defense? Bad.

I think this is what Belichick did with the Giants to beat the Bills.

He let them run on purpose, and it worked, they won by 1 point.

Nice. I need an Alzeheimers translator when he's on TV-- dude froths and spits and makes as much sense as a wet napkin.

Excuse me, but why is Mike Ditka on my television, and who ever accused him of knowing how to design a defense? He's STILL the stooopidest head coach to ever win a Superbowl, and the only man who could ruin a Saints team that had nothing left to ruin.

They were just tossing around ideas, which had Keyshawn rolling his eyes because having played on BB coached teams he knows that personnel dicatate what you can do defensively to confuse an opposing QB and not many teams are constructed so they can alter defensive scheme to tailor it to confuse an individual opponent. So at the end of the segment Ditka said "Then if none of that works, just lock 'em in the locker room."

Buddy Ryan was the brains behind the 1985 Chicago Bears defense.

gotta disagree. Barry (4th and 1 on my own 29- I'm going for it even after I get a mulligan) Switzer has that award permanently retired....

Believe it or not some of the teams NE's faced this season have brought the blitz a number of times. Most of these teams have also gone away from the blitz in game because Brady has burned them.

To me his protection this season has been a combination of a few things:
1) Randy Moss: He's creating mismatches by taking away at least two and sometimes three DB's during the majority of NE's offensive plays.

2) Moss, Welker, Stallworth, and Watson have been able to get open a lot easier, and quicker than Brady's receivers of a year ago. A number of Brady's sacks last year were more coverage related than anything.

3)The Patriots offensive line is young and still developing. I believe some of these O-linemen are just now starting to get into their prime, and they might get even better from this point on.

4) Kyle Brady is an extra O-linemen, he blocks that well.

5) On defense it's hard to bring the house when you have to worry about such good offensive weapons, especially when the Patriots are proving more than capable of picking up blitzers.

I know, it's not like Moss and Welker haven't already split double teams this year. :D

That's true, but our DLinemen are young, mostly 1st round picks and very athletic.

A.D. is new and some of our other LBs are showing a lot of wear.

Yeah that '85 Bears team had a really poor defense. Obviously you know more than him.

Was he suggesting it as a base defense?

I know we used a similar defense most of the game against Peyton one year and let Edgerrin run wild.

I didn't see the program, but we have all sorts of defenses for different situations. I assume he was asked a "how do you stop the Patriots" question and that was one tack.

Obviously, the way we're going, teams will have to gamble.
