awww, that makes me sad. Usually hailredskins.com has some good mocks, and I go over there around draft time.

We already landed a serious pinhead of a troll at this site.

I imagine he will show up here... ;)

I hope you are not talking about me, review my posts. I have given nothing but the utmost respect for Brady and the Pats. My expectations of this game are nothing more than wishful thinking. I really hope that perhaps, we could make it into a football game, rather than a routing.

I purposefully didn't sign up or post anything. I was just curious to read what other teams are saying about us. I was actually moderately surprised how benign it was. Mostly, it was a sad resignation to a massive drubbing.

It really struck me how sad it was to hear a fan say, "if we can keep it close, 31-17, we might have a playoff season."

31-17 is close????

Are we THAT damned good that other teams are thrilled to lose by ONLY two touch downs to us?

I take it all with a grain of salt.

If you do the math.. and say, the patriots have an 80% chance of winning every game, which I think is extremely generous... that would still mean only a 3% chance of undefeated season.

If it's a 70% chance then the odds are like 1/333 chance.

If every game is 50% chance of winning.. the odds drop down to 1/100,000

It really quickly becomes evident why teams don't go undefeated. I think it would be really foolish to assume the patriots are a given to win next weekend. I just can't understand how a fan site devoted to the skins wouldn't have more people trying to be upbeat and positive.

It's like the Pats have psyched people out before they even get there.

Remarkable.

At first I thought this post was serious

Can't be though, glancing through the links posted, I almost feel bad. I kinda wanna sign up and say "Keep your chin up fella's, it's just one game". Those posts that are not downright pessimistic are at the least realistic. Here's a sample.

You see, whatever we have in store for the Patriots passing attack, they'll figure it out and make adjustments because that's what they do. While we know that making second half adjustments is something we haven't done all season.

We will lose by 25 points just like all the other teams the Pats have faced. Pats football, is football right now.

After reading in here all morning about how our D sucks and blaa, blaa, blaa.... It's weird to go to another team's site and listen to them lament a loss that hasn't occured yet.

No, wasn't you. :)

Carry on! :D

I mean what are you going to do? Theres always a chance... but i mean the The Pats, atleast through 7 games, have been the most dominant team i have ever seen. 27-2 TD-INT ratio is scary good. I have hopes and dreams haha, but i am a realistic man.

I do however think that this will be the best Defense the pats will see all year and fully plan to drop a couple hundred if we are still getting 16.5 by the end of the week.

I have to agree with 31-17 being reasonable. I would like to see 38-10, but would be happy with 31-17.

Frankly, I'd be happy with a win.

But the extra margin to cover the spread is always icing on the cake! :rocker:

LOL - one of the posters thinks the Redskins will win because "hype never wins." So, since the Pats have a lot of hype, they can't win. What a joke. ('Though most of the posters there seem to have their heads screwed on.)

If you step back and look at what we've done to date, it's not terribly remarkable. I think you are in a bit of self imposed denial about your own team. Lots of Pats fans, and I'm not yet entirely sure you even are one, are struggling to comprehend just how dominant this team is. We're too used to winning by a FG or on a goaline stop. In our glorious recent past our pummelings have been few and far between.

It's funny how outsiders can assess us and simply accept what they see while the fan base continues to struggle with what ifs.

Weird, I went through both threads, nothing but doom and gloom for the Skins. Lots of respect, didn't see one comment about videogate. Didn't read all of the second forum, only 4 pages.

Not patting myself on the back, but -a few bad apples, you will get nothing but respect from Skins fans. Unless you are the Boys, Giants, or Eagles, and for some the Ravens. As a fanbase we are very strong. FedEx has been sold out for years by avid football fans who love their skins no matter what the standings are. With that comes respect for all football teams and what they are doing. There really is not another group of fans like the people who cheer for the Burgundy and Gold.

.

I think I might have said this before, but since you asked "what can you do" I think it's find a way to put Brady on his ass all afternoon.

That is a tough task. I'm amazed at how well protected he is this year compared to last. But that's the task. If you can't put him on his rear then you'll have to stop him where it's hardest - down the field, underneath, sidelines, you name it. It's unbelievable. I almost don't believe it.

It seems to start this way every week. Browns, even Bengals had all doom-and-gloom on Mondays prior to Pats games, and then the press talked up the opponent's chances during the week (because nobody but homers likes to watch a blowout).

By Friday there will be plenty of people talking about an upset, using whatever reasoning they can find - my favorite was some idiot Bengals fan comparing the heights of their DBs against the heights of our WRs/TE (Watson) and saying they would DEFINITELY shut everyone except Moss down, due strictly to the height advantage. ([Edit]: Oh, and he also said Chad Johnson would be unstoppable, because he's taller than our DBs. Genius.)

Then they'll get pummeled on Sunday, and it will seem like the world is ending because they "had a chance to win" but got blown out, and the cycle will continue. :) Well, the Dolphins already thought the world was ending, but for most teams, anyway.

Upset???? I doubt the Pats will be able to upset the skins ;)

They have received x points against the y team, which averages z points in the other games:

x - y - z
---------------
13 - Bengals - 30.2
7 - Bills - 15.4
17 - Browns - 30
14 - Chargers - 24.6
27 - Cowboys - 33.3
28 - Dolphins - 21.3
14 - Jets - 20.3

So, they have received in each game less points than what the other O normally scores (0.6903 less), other than the Phins, and let's face it, they were 42-7 at the half, they didn't play the 2nd at 100%. Now, how many points do we usually score? 20.33. 20.33*0.6903=14 pts. Enough points to win? I really don't think so.

They score 1.76 times more what the other team normally receives. How many points we receive in average? 14.66. 14.66*1.76=26 pts.

In summary, any team can win any given sunday, and I'm looking forward for this game... but this doesn't look good.

Wow, this is almost exactly the type of analysis I posted earlier in the year about the Pats. I'm liking the Skins board...shows they at least have some idea of how to look at things using data instead of just blabbing complete BS like some other fans (ahem, Colts, cough cough).

The Colts trolls on this message board are clueless on the evaluation of both the Colts and the Patriots based upon THIS season.

i feel a bit bad now, i did see the spygate refs way down on one, but really, i should have been more positive about them. Both sites seem like genuinely good football sites, i really saw very few stupid posts, and of course i don't blame them for being homers. I proudly predict blowouts every week. (last week, i predicted something like 63-9) I think it's cool to be wild in your support of your team.

The definition would be "suckers".

I say that with no joy whatsoever.

I moved down to Maryland in 1987 and immediately loved the Redskins. The 'Skins are the only true CIVIC unifier of a very transient 4 state/jurisdiction area. Young and old, black, white, hispanic, rich and poor all unite for this team. It has always been a beautiful thing to watch and they love their team.

Then, they became infected with the worst of our modern day culture. The young, full-of-himself, immature, hotshot owner.

Forget the inane personnel/player meddling by this football neophyte. Forget the surrounding of himself with no General manager, but only people who know how to stir his martini. Forget the wild spending on free agents that has become the mockery of the league. Forget all that.

What REALLY is tragic is how he has (and continues to) fleece the wallets of each and every Redskins fan through his ridiculous PSL's, outlawing any other parking lot within 5 miles of his stadium, charging people to attend training camp sessions, etc, curbing the Washington Post's access to his team because their writers are not toeing his line.

He is a human canker sore and he continues to take unffair advantage of one of the most loyal and wonderful fanbases anywhere.

I love the DC fanbase, but shame on them for swallowing Dan Snyder's sewage so willingly.
