6 carries for 31 yards?

Sorry if this has been talked about already, but I looked back and did not see a thread on this. Did Maroney get hurt again or did they take him out because the game was such a blow out they did not want to risk further injury.

I don't think he was hurt. I thought they had him out as a precaution with the big lead.

Speculation is that they just got him in to knock off the rust, and then when it became a blowout, they pulled him in favor of Faulk,Evans et all.

This is also my guess--and my hope, certainly! But do we have any particular reason to believe it's true? I can't remember the announcers even commenting on his absence or the cameras looking for him on the sidelines.

Maroney has injury issues. He had them his first year, he had major off season surgery. Maroney continues to have injury problems and has not helped this running game much. For a star in the waiting he has been dissapointing thus far.

Check out my Maroney is made out of glass thread for conformation. The funny thing will be if Maroney is inactive next week, or he plays a very limited role again. The homer's will be out in full force defending our first round feature back who carries the ball 6 times for 31 yards after he finally gets back.


That said I hope he gets healthy and can finish the year strong.

I'm confused, if your right and he's injury prone why would you want him to play in a blowout after coming back from an injury. Or are you saying he got hurt again?

Also I remember all the talk about Willie Mac his first few years in the league and how he was "soft" and injury prone because of all the hammy injuries. When BB arrived he became one of the most durable guys on the team and we all know the rest.

His quotes after the game suggest he wasn't REALLY 100%, so they kept him out when he wasn't needed.

That's even though it seemed he said in plain words that he actually was 100%.

Third, with Sammy Morris out indefinitely and the game well in hand very quickly, why would you risk more injury for Maroney? Maroney got over 5 yards a carry on six carries. It was a good start back from the injury. We are about to hit the meat of our schedule with 5 of our toughest games of the season over the next six games (Washington, Indy, Buffalo, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh). Why risk Maroney having a setback that will make him miss two or three of those games?

Like the rest of the team (defense included), he took the second half off. He was fortunate enough to get to do it on the sideline. Once Miami got to 21, Brady went back in for a spark and to get another score, but that was it.

My get is that the mindset in the second half was........ LETS NOT GET HURT and get the EFF out of here with the win. Holding Maroney out is very consistant with what I saw in the 2nd half.

Please, Danny, I implore you to stop posting on this topic until you see how that compares with other rb's around the league. These guys are ALWAYS banged up - it's the nature of the position. That's why teams have gone to two-back systems. Frank Gore has had major injuries to his knees which required reconstructive surgery, and then he hurt his hand. Injury prone? Willis Mcgahee blew out his knee, and then had injuries last year. Injury prone? Shawn Alexander has missed time over the last couple years. Injury prone? Lamont Jordan, injury prone. Deuce Mccallister, injury prone....I mean just off the top of my head...I think i could name 30 or 40 guys. Your constant railing against Maroney makes you sound ridiculous and uninformed.

Now in the pros he splits times with Dillon and now Morris, and still gets hurt numerable times. The same people that say he split time, ignore that when discussing his injuries. I'm not saying you are one of them, but your post is on the Maroney subject, so I figured I'd bring it up.

Yes, Maroney is not the only RB to get hurt, but it sure seems like the boy is hurt alot in 1 1/2 seasons, while not even being an every down back.

It's too soon to label him injury prone, as hopefully he has a full career to look at before we can determine that, but he's not off to the best start in the world, what with 3 or 4 different injuries already.

I guess there's limited wisdom in arguing with someone who cannot spell "aggravate," but due to the fact that Morris is out for the time being, they probably wanted to save him for teams that, you know, actually pose a challenge.

That reasoning is much more believable than your line, given there is nothing as of yet to indicate what you're saying is true.

So, he wasn't injury prone in college, now he is injury prone, and if he goes two years without missing a game, he won't be injury prone again? Can't we just say he's been injured a lot lately? I'm OK with that. I'm not OK with labeling someone who has missed 5 games over a 23-game span as an NFL RB fragile, soft, etc. I agree, let's let his career play out before we label him. People said the same things (and worse) about Willie Mac in the early days.
