Coming into this season, I was in the 'Peyton is better than Brady' camp because of the disparity in offensive numbers Manning had over Brady (e.g. season numbers of 49 TDs, 121 Passer Rating, etc.)

Obviously in assessing this disparity, one has had to consider the effect that each QB's receiving corp plays.

Comparing the offensive statistics that Brady compiled with receiving corps of Branch/Givens or Caldwell/Gaffney compared to Manning's production with Harrison/Wayne is problematic due to the disparity in the talent of the receivers, leading to the assertion by those in the Brady camp that - if Brady had Manning's receivers he would have similar or better numbers.

Enter Randy Moss and the '07 Patriots passing arsenal. Needless to say, I am no longer in the 'Manning is better than Brady camp'.

After watching Moss this season and today's game against Miami, in particular, where Brady threw two hail mary jump ball TDs to Moss in double coverage, I can't help but think that in the future the biggest question in the Brady vs Manning debate will be - if Manning had Moss as a receiver, would he would have similar or better numbers than Brady?

Re: Revelations on Brady vs Manning

I think Peyton would make pretty good use of Randy. Something tells me that. It's a hunch.

The two guys work in different systems and have to live with the support around them, good or bad, and this makes it awfully tough to compare. Peyton has all of the goods. Tom has all of the goods. To watch them in head-to-head matchups is about as good as it gets. It's Marino versus Elway - at that level.

It's going to be an interesting fall and winter.

Re: Revelations on Brady vs Manning

The main differenciator has been and will always remain.

Brady= Gritty gamer with the heart of a champion. The definiton of the word leader.

Manning= Somebody change the rules so I can win!

Really. So the Pats didn't hold?

But since you think Manning had the rules changed. I can say the same about Brady. "Someone change the playing surface so my team can have a chance to win."

If that sounds like a stupid argument then look at what you just typed.

I don't know, but I think missing only a single play when your jaw gets broken is pretty gritty.

I'll tell you what I'm worried about. If Manning gets seriously injured, who's going to do all the commercials! Sprint would be screwed!

Does TB even give money to charities? At least Manning gives some $$$ for a good cause. TB could use some commercials with all those diapers he need to buy.

How many seasons did Brady suffer with Caldwell and Gaffney??

Brady donates his money to a great cause... the New England Patriots. He demands less money thereby allowing his team to acquire and draft more talented players.

Wow. Could you be a bigger loser?

Brady takes from the rich and gives to the rich. What a great role model.

Actually, I believe the playing surface was changed because the NFL complained that it was so bad (due in part to the dual revolution use). The Pats won 3 SB's on the grass surface, they didn't really need to change it (as it was a perceived strength, although maybe not an actual strength)

Jealous much? I think sacrificing for the team is a noble thing. Brady could go out there and do the same kind of endorsements as Manning but he chooses to focus on winning championships instead. To each his own.

Re: Revelations on Brady vs Manning

And allows the Pats* organization to pay fines levied against your coaching staff for cheating...

a fish rots from the head down.

see you in Indy in November.

And according to Jimmy Johnson, your offensive line coach is the best signal stealer in the business and Tony Dungy skipped church this week. :p

Here's the thing, if you asked Brady a year ago, would you rather have Harrison instead of Brown/Branch/Caldwell, if he were to answer truthfully, he would say "Yes, of course" (although he wouldn't answer truthfully).

If you ask Manning, would you rather have Moss instead of Harrison, I bet he would take Harrison (or maybe it would be a tossup). Manning probably views Harrison as a better reciever for the Colts than Moss, with a large part of that being that they've been playing together so long, and have every detail worked out (pre game throwing/receiving practice, knowing exactly what each other is capable of, knowing exactly where each one will be under ever circumstance, etc.)

Therefore, in my opinion, that question is a non-factor since it probably would have no impact on Manning's numbers.

I call that stupid. So he went back in with a broken jaw? Who need a jaw anyways? Let it just hang from one hinge. One game is worth the rest of your life.

His contract and Manning's aren't too far apart.

I think one thing we can agree on is that Moss was a steal, at least for a year. I was lambasted for disagreeing with the Raiders accepting a 4th rounder. Regardless of his attitude, looking at drafting an unproven rookie(even in the first round), or trading for Moss, who would you rather have?
