OVER!........This guy can not cut it in the NFL.......I know I will get butchered on that statement......and yes it was one series.....but this is our BACK UP QB here......this IS the guy that will be coming in should anything god forbid happen to T. Brady (tapping wood like a woodpecker as I speak)....THIS IS THE GUY that is going to come in and save the day????

Cassel is a bust....he locks on receivers worse than Bledsoe ever did....and god knows that I am not trying to compare Cassel to Bledsoe here......He just isn't GOOD ENOUGH to be backing up Brady....or most likely anyone else...If we can get some kind of trade bait for the guy RIGHT NOW...I would get rid of him.........Keep Gutz....and perhaps go after some kind of vet as well.....we'll see what BB does with him.......but I think his days here are numbered.......what do you all think?

Re: The Matt Cassel Experiment.....is.....

Personally, I'd rather see a journeyman backup with some starting experience (Batch, Collins, Warner) than a raw backup. We would need someone to manage a game - just keep the ship afloat. Plus its not like this is a position where the Pats are trying to develop players.

Great observations based on ONE passing play. The Patriots should just fire their ENTIRE scouting staff and hire you because its clear that you can evaluate talent based on a single series.

Of course, if that was the case and you happened to see the series last year that Brad had against the Phins, you'd say he was a bust also.

Re: The Matt Cassel Experiment.....is.....

BB picked him and in BBWT :rocker: :singing:

Yeah!

If he's 2nd string here he's worth at least a #2 to the Bears or some other team with a QB need. Think about it. Who would you want as a QB if you are the Bears? Griese or Cassel? No question, Cassel. He's got BB's stamp of approval.

Arizona needs a QB in the worst way. Hey, I changed my mind! 1st round pick!!:rocker:

Since you asked, I think you're an idiot. Just remember, you asked.

If you are confident with cassels coming in off the bench in relief of Brady....good for you....

Good.....at least we think alike.....I think the same of you Mo....first class loser.......I have never seen you make an intelligent post....congrats on that!

Cassell sucks. The guy's got the height, arm, and build. Big f'n deal. He plays like sh*t. Can't NEVER hit a guy in stride or on point. Always behind guys, too high, or too low. He sucks. And don't give me the BB and Pioli are geniuses crap. They are the BEST but they also make bad decisions(ie Doug Gabriel, Donald Hayes, Bethel Johnson, Monty Biesel). We would be lucky to go .500 if Casell had to lead this team.

They also cut bait faster than any other team. Some of thoe guys you mentioned didn't even make it out of year 1. Cassel has been here three years; give him more than two passes before making an evaluation.

Brady had his backups back in his PC. Said they disguised the coverage and he got picked by last years defensive player of the year. To listen to some of the nitwits on the board today you would think no backup ever threw a pick. I bet these were the same people who wanted Bledsoe back after Tommy's first 4 pick day.

Re: The Matt Cassel Experiment.....is.....

Great observations based on ONE passing play.

I beg to differ that it's based upon one play. Far from it. I'm amazed that he's lasted this long. He's atrocious. He has no intangibles.

The other thing I'd pile on here is that the coach didn't yank him because he thought it was a forgivable mistake. He yanked him because Gutierrez is probably a much better player at this level.

There's a reason why Cassell didn't start at USC.

I'll bet after today's atrocious pick (not too surprising) that Bill wishes he had it back (the decision to jettison this guy and keep a real NFL QB as backup.)

I'd feel much better with a journeyman backup behind Brady, and wouldn't be surprised if one or more is brought in this week (Flutie, anyone? I'm kidding) for a tryout at the very least. David Greene is probably a better choice than Cassel.

I liked Cassel until this preseason, but he simply doesn't have the skills to be an NFL-caliber QB. He might be able to cut it in Canada or the Arena League, but he's not an NFL guy.

Cassel has regressed in his third year. By this time, he should be able

to do an adequate job as a backup. Many forum members wondered

why Guitierrez was retained as a third quarterback. Perhaps today's

performance by Cassel shows why. As a raw rookie, Gutierrez show

some poise. If the Pats have another blowout, it will be interesting to

see who comes off the bench.

Werll, STC, considering that you are a complete idiot, its no surprise that you think Mo is a Loser. Losers always think that about other people. OH, MoLewisRocks makes more intelligent posts in a day than you have your entire time posting here.

And YES, I am comfortable with Cassel as the back-up. Why? Because he's won the back-up job each year he's been here. UNLIKE Rohan Davey who had it handed to him.

The reason Cassel didn't start at USC is because he lost the coin flip. Pete Carroll said as much.

This garbage that Cassel is atrocious is clearly coming from people who don't really watch games....

The Pats, you know, actually had Testaverde in TC. If they had that little faith in Cassel, do you think they'd keep him over Vinny? [There's little salary cap incentive to keep Cassel, and it's not like they'd be throwing away a first-rounder.]

Ah, a new whipping boy is born. But how can we rant when he never plays. Half time score; Patriots 42, Miami 6. Kind of hard to find a whipping boy, but alas we manage. Next week: Seymour not playing, must be that f'ng trainer.

Cassell won't be on this team next season. Book it. The guy is a bum. I will be shocked if he's still #2 on the depth chart next week. This guy stinks. And, no, it's not because of just 1 pass. He has absolutely NO CLUE how to play the position. Good tools, ****ty results.
