Not really sure who's left, but what's the status on some of the young guys
-Pierre Woods?
-Jason Alexander(is he injured?)
-Corey Mays(is he still on the roster?)
-Oscar Lua(IR..I think?)
-Any others?

They'll need some help in the draft and have to sign some veterans.

Colvin will probably be cut next year, he's just not worth 7M or whatever he gets. Bruschi and Seau will probably be gone, like you said. I think at this point Woods could play better than Colvin.

They ran right at Colvin last game and on one play he couldn't get off his block and it went for about 15 yards. Great. That and no sacks, what exactly does he do out there? Got his thumb up his butt if you ask me.

1. OLB/DE convert (I think)
2. Apparently
3. Cinci, last i heard
4. Yeah IR
5. They are using A.D. there mostly with the AARP platoon of Bruschi Seau.
Nothing else I know of.

[obscenities] Colvin SUCKS. That's the point. Woods has looked decent, can't be worse than Colvin. And next year it will be hard to justify paying Colvin 7M, that's the point [obscenities]

No need for that here. Teams run right at Colvin, he hasn't been able to pressure the QB as much as he should be, but what are you comparing Woods is better to - his special teams play, the garbage time he gets at the end of the blow outs to date?

I'm saying the team is better off with Woods plus 7M of cap space spent somewhere else (next year) than with Colvin. Too late to make a change this year, but next year I don't think he'll be here.

Was Wilson better than Milloy when he got cut? No, they just didn't feel like paying Milloy top $ when he wasn't worth it.

Colvin was playing very good until he got hurt.

What is with the hate for colvin?

I thought so too. He was the defensive star in some early games. What's his injury, do you know?

Same story every year, 08 looks to the changing of the guard. For 07 our playoffs chances will be damaged if we lose 2 of the big 5 (Vrabel, Colvin, Bruschi, Seau, Thomas). Lets hope these old guys can stay on the field. With some of the special teamers being banged up (Alexander, Mitchell, etc.), more regulars will have to play on special teams, which could result in more injuries.

08 - Everyone loves the underdog, Woods is an undrafted player who can contribute on special teams. Not sure I want to see him starting especially with two quality LBs (Seau, Bruschi) leaving. At least with Vrabel, Colvin, Thomas, Alexander, Woods, Lua there is a foundation. Add a starting quality ILB and we are back in business.

F*ck you you piece of ****. Colvin SUCKS. That's the point. Woods has looked decent, can't be worse than Colvin. And next year it will be hard to justify paying Colvin 7M, that's the point, *******.

Man that escalated quickly!

Anyway, I think teams run at Colvin b/c that's the side Green has been on. Colvin was playing great until he got hurt, and he has played great the last few seasons.

Tweeked an ankle in the prior game. He's otherwise having a very good year and they will likely extend him (in part just to piss mcbee off) which will cut his cap hit in half next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see either Bruschi or Seau remain as roll players. Tedy, contrary to popular opinion, is playing pretty well this season and Junior is having his best season in nearly a decade...

mcbee on the other hand is just a venom spewing stealth troll wannabe who should be cut or at least restricted to the visitors locker room.

I'm just trying to help the discussion along.

Maybe Colvin was good before his "injury"...maybe I just didn't notice. If you can't contain the run as an OLB, you're not doing too well in the coach's eyes. And he has a habit of taking a meat cleaver to high priced veterans. We'll see.

When does Woods get a chance to play to see what he can do? By the time he's getting playing time he'll be an UFA the next year.

That is reason enough (I agree with your assessment). I also think they extend him, mostly because how can they not? They still haven't developed any young LBs. (Not knocking Woods and Alexander, but it's different being in the lineup, so they're still "?").

I have to disagree with your assessment on Bruschi and Seau. I'm sure I heard bones creak when we went into the 1 lineman defense against Dallas.

We're walking a tightrope at LB, in my opinion and we fell off during the championship game last year.

I think they're playing OK overall, but they're both deep into their personal 4th quarter and father time hasn't lost a game yet.:(

Junior Seau is a freak of nature, BTW. He looks like a rookie energy wise.

My impression of Bruschi is that he's tired. He looks like his travails have exacted a price.

I hardly think Colvin "sucks." He's been pretty solid in my book.

As far as ILB's go, this year is a great year to draft an ILB - lots of good ones out in the college ranks. Question is will Bill go for a rookie ILB over a free agent veteran?

and it might just be me, but i didnt notice colvin come up big last season either...i just dont think he is as good as the rest of our LB's, disregarding age...

but if i had a choice, i would rather keep colvin and draft an ILB, then let go of colvin, and have to draft both...

(7M for colvin? i DEFENETELY dont think he is worth that much...paycut soon?)

That's not what you said. You said Woods could unequivocally play better than Colvin. That is, without a doubt, untrue.

Hmm, you think zack thomas will get cut in Miami after this year? My guess it he'll want out, especially if JT leaves, and playing on a great team like that Pats tends to rejuvenate players(see Harrison, seau).
