I am not an insider, so I have not read the whole article.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insi...olumns/story?columnist=horton_gary&id=3068624

But, there are two paragraphs, and this guy makes a comment that is interesting to me in that it seems quite wrong - one can only imagine where he goes with the rest of his "insider" thinking.

Anyway, he says, "The Cowboys had a lot of success last Sunday attacking New England between the tackles with a physical combination of backs Marion Barber and Julius Jones. They averaged 6.5 yards per rush, but they ran the ball only 15 times and most of those came in the first half."

So, I looked at the stats of the game and the Boys ran for like 99 yards on the night.

And, 67 or so of those yards came in the third quarter (like from 5 or 6 rushes)

Does this actually point to a problem with the pats? I think that there was a breakdown in that initial Cowboy drive to start the second half, and BB alluded to it in his presser, but that D is not weak between the tackles or soft at the LB position, which he implies elswhere.

He also says to blitz brady and play tight man.

Oh,

That is easy to do. Everyone has players who can play tight man, and has speed rushers who can get to the qb.

"Horton has solved the problem everybody. Just hit the darn qb, and we will win. Oh, and you little thin guys, get closer to moss and stalworth and welker, and Faulk, and Rivers, and....."

I guess that as long as we are dreaming Mr. Horton, why don't we just get a great oposing qb to score more than the pats and put pressure on them that way? Hey, maybe I could be an insider.

Question: If I am an insider, do I get a nice lease on a Mercedes? Or, like a really gread perdium check? Will everyone like me cause I am, like ya know, on the inside? (will I listen to Jethro Tull "inside" every day over and over?) Do insiders have special badges? (Horton looks like he has an offical badge.)Do they have ear transmitters that are connected to the double secret probation insiders? Hey yea, is there an insider, inside the insiders?

Wow.

My head hurts.

Course, I don't want to be a football outsider either.

That freak'n DVOKZ el-em-en-O-Pee scale/chart/evaluation tool makes neck hair stand on end.

Obviously teams can put points up against the Patriots D - and there's a few ways they've done so... this D is not perfect.

But can they put up enough points to overcome our offense? And pressuring Brady is the best shot teams have - but that leaves teams vulnerable elsewhere, and Brady's exploited that incredibly well.

Putting pressure on Brady worked well for teams last year - but only because we had no legitimate receiving threats - this year is a different matter.

But while the D might have their weaknesses, one can't help but be impressed with how they responded when they found themselves down 24-21... they allowed only a field goal for the rest of the night - against the Cowboys no less!

the boys have prob the second best passing offense in the league...and the pats crippled it, and they did that by focusing less ont eh run...

miami cant throw the ball...so ronnie brown will be the focus..and he wont get anywhere...our run D will be GOOD AGAIN....LOL

Horton points several times to San Deigo's defense as an example to follow how to beat the Pats. He argues that San Deigo successfully pressured Brady to get him off his game a bit. I think he is nuts.

Brady completed 25 of 31 passes for 276 yards and 3 TDs. Yes, he got one of his two INTs in that game but it was during a two minute drill at the half where Brady was being a little more wreckless. In fact, he had two incompletions on that same drive so he had 3 incompletions for the rest of the game. Yeah, Brady was sacked twice too in that game.

Where did the Jethro Tull reference come from?

How'd that work for SD this season?

These guys need to listen to Rod Woodson who keeps pointing out to Marshall Faulk on NFLN every night that these aren't the 2006 Patriots...

Exactly.

Good again.

The Boys are a pretty good team! They can score. But, their proverbial tongues were hangin out.

They were trying to get to brady. And, having the talent to play man with those receivers is kinda funny don't ya think?

It all boils down to the big picture. These analysts think that you can find "the" weakness.

The pats were created to alter their attack, (using their whole team -o-d-st) to overwhelm the oponent.

Analysts can say after one game, "the pats can't run."
Next game, "they can't kick."
and on and on.

But, this team is built to morph into what the oposition can not handle. And the D is a huge part of it.

I have heard people support their inane arguments by using stats from the 2000 season.

People are lazy. They simply yell louder and louder until what they say seems to be the prevailing thought.

Tull wrote a song called "Inside"

Great tune on the lp Benifit.

"Can you cook, can you sew, well I don't want to know....here on the inside, outside so far away"

When a team is down by at least 2 TDs it will not be so difficult to run. Seems to me at the beginning of games opponents have not run so well.

It also seems to me that there's ZERO acknowledgment of the fact that the Pats are "giving" the run to some degree and that Richard Seymour hasn't played yet. They surely have work to do on the run-game, that's a perfectly fine point, I suppose, but it's incredibly short-sighted. Once again...THEY'LL SEE. Idiots.

BB said we were in the nickel most of the night. You can run against that if you wish, but it means you should be passing. ;)

Never ever thought I would see the day that Rod Woodson has our back...:D

Nice.

I love the bass in that song. Such a cool album.

Yeah, next week, horton will be saying how we "magically" fixed our run D.:bricks:
