Could Jackson and Jackson take their roster spots?
....
not sure anout Mitchell...Jackson COULD be...but Jackson for Alexander???....ILB will be very thin if EA is IRed... there will be seau, Bruschi, AD...Btavel of course can be..but..the OS is thin..maybe ChadB back????
Oh my.
Hadn't thunk of THAT.
Neither J nor J are quite ST demons.
Whereas Mel and Eric are.
The K/O coverage teams have been splendid. Hate to lose that.
(PUNT coverage teams ... what's that?)
Baker, if anyone, would seem to be the natural c"uttee" for Eddie.
The Chad-for-Eric swap certainly makes you think.
Huh? Eddie Jackson IS a good special teamer, where did you ever hear different? Also, Chad has shown an ability to be a good returner and he's more than willing to take part in coverage units (had at least one good special teams tackle that I remember from last year).
In any case Baker, Mel, Washington, S. Thomas, and Smith are the most likely cuts. If Alexander is injured bad enough that he's probably going to be out for sometime (don't know) then I'd expect him to get IR'd not cut.
Mel Mitchell, according to Reiss, had limited participation in practice today. I'd be surprised if he were IR'ed, unless he suffers a setback (Dave Thomas says Hi).
I have no idea how bad Alexander's injury is, but it's bad enough to keep him completely off the practice field. If he is lost for multiple weeks, or longer, the barely-existent depth at LB would then become non-existent. I am disappointed that the FO has allowed this situation to continue from last season, except for the addition of Adalius. That's one terrific addition; I understand that. Still...
PRay tell us, oh wise and knowing more than BB and Pioli, who YOU would have signed?
They tried to put Rogers on the PS, but the Cowboys picked him off waivers. Who else is there? And don't you think that BB and Pioli would have brought them in already if they felt that person could HELP? You act like there is a plethora of ILBs who can play in the Pats system sitting around waiting for the Pats to call and the Pats just don't want to.
If you think that, you're a fool.
Still trying to figure out how you mistyped "Vrabel" like that.

You know, rebutting someone's post doesn't always mean including an insult.
This just goes to show how f-ed we are if we lose even one LB at this point. Going into the season, I thought we were a but overloaded at that pos but I guess you can never have too many at any pos, just look at Carolina's QB situation. Whoda thunk? We can't seem to draft backup linebackers that can fit into the system, and we can't find enough in free agency. The result is continuing lack of depth at linebacker. We do great at getting starting veterans: Colvin, Vrabel, Seau and Thomas. Our personnel approach is to count on hjags for backups. That approach doesn't seem to work at the linebacker position. And should the FO be qustioned if we are ONE minor injury away from serious depth issues at linebacker. I would think so. And no, we can't list the players. Pioli has the list.

Tully Banta Cain says "hi".
True, but that's one...in seven years.
I wish TBC were still here, but there's no way that the NEP would - or should - have paid him what SF paid him.
Matt Chatham says "Hi" as well...and he had one stellar game at LN against the NYG in 03, filling in. But I think he is injured again?? (He also had a big hit on the streaker in the Superbowl.Tully Banta Cain says "hi".
