i cant believe this, this guy has more mistakes on this story then my 7 yr old sister has on her homework throughout a WEEK

anyone know how much journalism pays? cuz if i can make statements like that and still have a job, hell...im all for it

http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/7344944

lets begin:

"What is also being ignored is that the Colts are a better team than they were a year ago. "

-im afraid not, the colts D is better, their Offense defenetely is not

"Belichick knew he needed a ton more speed in order to compete with the Colts and that's why he traded for Moss and Wes Welker and signed Donte' Stallworth"

-really? so a team loses by 3 points...and needs a TON of speed to make it up? yea rit

"Peyton Manning, in some circles, is considered a better quarterback than Brady. Yes, Brady has thrown more touchdowns (21 to 10), but they are both efficient passers (70 percent completions)"

-he forgets to mention how many more times brady has thrown the ball so far, and how many more yards brady has...also, 11 td's is not a lot rit? i mean, brady ONLY has MORE then TWICE as many as manning rit?

"As much as I am impressed with Moss, Colts receiver Reggie Wayne is faster and just as good at catching the deep ball"

-this one is SO ridiculous, im not even gonna talk about it especially the wayne being faster part

"Clark already has five touchdown catches."

-yup, and how many does watson have?......i thought so

overall this article gave me some AMAZING laughs...hope u guys enjoy it as well...........wayne faster then moss, HA

Well, they do need to talk up Pats opponents this year, or else viewers will probably lose interest in the regular season.

I just read the article, and I have to agree with you. This guy is obviously all for the Colts. The only thing I agree with him on is that Addai is better than Maroney/Morris.

Please leave words like "rit" and "u" for your text messages.

I don't really have a problem with this article. It accentuates the positives of both teams, while focusing on the Colts. Anything that he says that isn't factually correct is also not factually incorrect.

"The Colts are a better team this year than last year". This is neither true or false, it is subjective.

"Clark's hands are better than Watson's" Arguable. I disagee, but it is arguable.

"Reggie Wayne is faster and just as good at catching the deep ball" Off hand I dont know who is faster, but ALL good NFL recievers should be able to catch the deep ball. It is, after all, other things like route running that separates most recievers. Even Bethel can catch the deep ball. He just has a harder time getting open for it.

Overall, OK article. A touch homeristic on the side of the Colts. Nothing to get pissed off about IMO.

ohh, im not angry....just laughing at the guy

the premise of the article, don't count out the colts, is correct. what he uses to back up his premise is ridiculous. what a reach.

exactly, i have no prob with the colts being considered number 1...cuz that will change after nov 4...but at least come up with some better evidence

I keep getting a chuckle at the "The Colts defense is better this year" theory.

...in their last game, the Colts whipped the Tampa Bay Bucs — possibly the third-best team in the NFC — without Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison, one of the game's best change-up runners in Joseph Addai and hit-machine Bob Sanders (and we all know what this remarkable safety means to that Indy defense).

First of all, "Wow - third-best team in the NFC!" Secondly, no need to mention the Pats without Seymour and Maroney, huh? Nothing to get upset about, but it really is amazing the free-pass the Colts get.

As long as Manning throws 11 td's versus Jax, he'll be tied after 6 games :p

LOL, good point, "he forgets to point out how many more times Brady has thrown it".. It would stand to reason then that he'd have more td's, eh? If this situation were reversed, as it was in '04, you'd be talking about how it's "just win", and all the rushing td's you have, etc..,

"Belichick knew he needed a ton more speed in order to compete with the Colts and that's why he traded for Moss and Wes Welker and signed Donte' Stallworth"

We added Adalius to beat the Colts. That one signing was enough.

The rest is wavy-gravy.

What really made me laugh was this:

"Flipping to defense, this is where the Colts' speed shines. The Patriots don't have anyone as quick as Dwight Freeney on the defensive line and inside linebacker Gary Brackett is faster than Tedy Bruschi. The Pats have a decided edge with Adalius Thomas and Rosey Colvin, but New England's secondary doesn't match the Colts for overall speed. Yes, Rodney Harrison remains a fierce tackler and blitzer, but he can't run with a healthy Sanders. Dungy's secondary may be inexperienced by comparison, but it will only improve as the season progresses."

Talk about glossing things over. He mentions that we don't have anyone as quick as Dwight Freeney on the defensive line, but fails to acknowledge that our DLine is way better than theirs... what about Seymour, Warren, Wilfork, and Green?

He picks one Linebacker (Brackett) and says he is "faster" than Tedy Bruschi. Whoop-dee-doo! He finally gives props for Thomas and Colvin, but never mentions Vrabel and doesn't admit our LBs are better. Then we come to the secondary where again, he can't admit ours is better - instead he gives us the old "our may be inexperienced, but it will only improve" BS. Other than that, just 1 silly comment about Harrison not being able to "run with" Sanders.

He was keen to compare players to players when he thought he could at least make an argument that the Colts had equal or better. When it came to the rest of the positions, he glosses it over.

Truly pathetic.

I agree that the Colts should not be counted out.... but the details of the article were ******ed.

Wow...nearly every sports writer in the country have said that the Pats are the best team in the NFL. Some have said they will go 19-0...some have crowned this years team as "the greatest of all time". One guy (who happens to be one of 44 voters for the HOF) writes a decent article that points out the strengths of the Colts and you guys are pitching fits. Unbelieveable. For every single article like this one you read...i'll bet there are 10 more that go the other way.

An odd article, to be sure. The Colts finally won last year because they played so well as a team (esp. on defense)...not just a collection of talented players.

The comparison of Wayne to Moss is unnecessary--no one argues that Wayne is a superb receiver...but Moss' abilities are exceptionally rare. Once-in-a-generation rare, arguably. It's the combo of Harrison/Wayne that has driven the Colts success. One HOF guy, another now playing even better than the great Marvin (but only due to age).

I like Bob Sanders...but how often has he been injured? More often than Maroney.

Addai is a very good back, and have nothing bad to say about him. Would love to have him on our team.

Bull Crap! Tom Brady is ahead of Peyton Manning's touchdown record pace of 2004. Meanwhile, stop with the hypothetical nonsense concerning Peyton Manning. As for the rushing touchdowns, the New England Patriots offensive output is even more impressive considering the injuries to running backs Maroney and Morris.

As for the defensive comparisons, it's not even close. As is the case in 2007 as was the case in 2004, the New England Patriots have a superior defense to the Indianapolis Colts.

I look forward to posting solely to see what type of idiotic response I get from you, Mr. Tippett.

Brady IS ahead of Mannings pace in '04.
My stuff about PM, was in part tongue in cheek, but also a response to the original posters remark about how Brady has thrown WAY MORE PASSES. I just surmised that it stands to reason that the guy that has thrown "way more passes" is probably going to have more td's, especially when we are speaking of this level of talent. My only other veiled point was that Manning is a game behind, due to scheduling. Your offensive rushing output is wholly not impressive, not against the likes of those defenses, regardless of who is running. Your passing game? That IS impressive. Morris was injured for 3 quarters out of what, 24?? Face it, your pace on offense is akin to Colts in '04. Your giddyness, however, is over the top. Defensively, we didn't give up a ton of points in '04, and after all, that IS the point, isn't it?

Care to explain this one? NE is 7th in rushing yards per game even after the Dallas game. How is that "wholly [un]impressive" when they are .3 ypg less than Indy? Is Indy wholly unimpressive as well?

I already refuted your claim earlier that NE passes more often than Indy in the early part of games. I will now go through and compare NE's rushing totals vs. Indy's comparative to who they played.

Edit:

Indy's opponents have allowed an average of 118.7/game while Indy has rushed for 142. 23.3 better than standard opposition.

NE's opponents have allowed an average of 121.1/game while Indy has rushed for 141.7. 20.6 better than standard opposition.

Wholly unimpressive indeed.

all i was trying to point out was that this guy takes ridiculous evidence to support his position...

i could care less about the 07 pats and the 04 colts, although i think the 07 pats are a lot better, b/c if i remember correctly, no matter how good the colts were, they never won the afccg that year...which is something i see the pats doing...

With regards to the 2004 NFL season, the Colts were 19th in points allowed while the New England Patriots were 2nd in points allowed. That is a huge difference. Meanwhile, the Patriots played a tougher schedule and were in a tougher division.

Just a reminder ..... 3 points scored.
