Thoughts? I know Miami's a subpar team (to put it mildly) but they always seem to play bigger than their cleats in Miami when we play them. Plus with all the coverage of the Dallas game... It wouldn't completely shock me if it's at least a close game.

PS I'm worried about the Colts after Sunday. Our D wasn't covering well 10-20 yards off the LOS. That's how we got burned last January. Hope I'm wrong...

You haven't seen Miami play, about 5 minutes into the 1st quarter you'll be pretty relaxed.

It will be over by the second quarter.

Yes, it's a trap game, as in it will be like trapping a bunch of fish in a bucket and shooting them with shotguns. Or "the" shotgun.

Washington is more of a trap game because they boast the best pass D in the league and are a couple of plays away from being undefeated. We're at home, they are an unfamiliar foe with a great coach and oh, it's the week before the biggest regular season matchup of this decade.

ps- the Redskins are the only squad that Brady/Belichick has never beaten. The Pats have only beaten the 'Skins once and that was 35 years ago.

Yes, it is a classic trap game. I expect the Pats to start out slow and then turn on the gas when they fall behind early, as they did in the last trap game (Cleveland).

The last trap game was either Buffalo or Cleveland - and proved that this Patriots team is so dominant that even a "trap" game leads to ultimate victory. They can overcome a less than inspired effort. I'd rather they not HAVE to, of course, but still...I wouldn't worry.

There's also so much history with Miami beating us, especially down there, and especially LAST TIME down there (a shutout!), I think there will be more motivation than one might expect for a 6-0 team taking on an 0-6 team.

Exactly! I think the Pats could beat the Dolphins with their 2nd string. It might be a little sloppy, but I don't see how the Patriots don't pull this game out by double digit points.

And Miami has basically punted the season away - as indicated by the Chris Chambers trade. Now they have no wide receiver, no tight end, and no quarterback. We'll stack up in the box, stop Brown from running, and dare Cleo Lemon to beat our secondary.

Has anybody noticed how almost every freakin week some people are talking this "trap game" nonsense? Can it please stop?

It won't even be close. The Dolphins are the worst team in the NFL by a longshot. I think BC could beat them.

And come on guys, there is no such thing as a trap game with this Patriots team. We should all know that by now...

The Pats usually do not lose these kind of games. I don't think New England will lose to an AFC East team this year. The chance to run the table is very possible.

Whole AFC EAST - Somone would have to be very, very lucky.
Pittsburgh - Not enough defense or offense
Baltimore - Game will be hyped as offense vs defense except the Ravens offense will not be able to do squat anyway.
Washington - I agree with you guys they are decent, but not good enough.
Indy - The Colts will have to flat outscore your Pats, the Pats have the better defense and offense I can't see the Colts stopping New England. Manning would have to have one hell of a day.

Darkhorse Giants - I think the Giants are a more intersting matchup than mant people may think. I still say NE beats them but with those 2 ends, Strahan and Umiyiora, the G-men may be able to get significant pressure with their front 4. If that happens and Eil plays a really good game this one could be interesting.

I have a ton of respect for your Pats, it won't surprise me if they pull it off.

I'm not every people. I've never called any game a "trap" until this one. Remember, a similar squad beat Chicago when it was undefeated last year and Cleo Lemon was at QB. An 0-6 team, hungry for its first win at home, which traditionally plays the Pats very tough, gets a visit from a banged up squad that's coming off what basically felt like a regular season super bowl. If the Pats breeze through Miami this weekend, THEN I'm going to start thinking about that 16-0 idea also.

Uh...hasn't the Steelers defense been overwhelmingly stifling so far? They have the best chance to stop the Pats' offense on paper, in my opinion.

I guess, except when they met the Cardinals. That makes it so much less intimidating to me.

Amen.

Just because a team sucks doesn't make it a trap game. A divisional game is NEVER a trap game. And if NE loses to a division opponent is isn't because it's a trap game, it's because divisional opponents better know how to play you.

Belichick will be showing the team video of numerous tough games played by the Fish against the Pats, just to ensure they don't try to phone this one in.

I do get the sense that despite their protests, the players on this team DO want to pursue the goal of the perfect season - and will treat every single game with the importance it deserves with that being a secret team goal for the year.

Too much bad blood with Miami. This will be a REVENGE game from the Pat's point of view.

Redskins game may be one of the most likely 'trap' games for us potentially because they are a team we will probably be flat for.

I don't see us being really psyched up for the Skins. Like Vrabel said, you can't bring it at 100% every single week. You do have lapses.

In a word, no.

Uh, OK.
Me, I'll be somewhat more on the 16-0 bandwagon after we beat the Colts but if 'breezing' over the worst team in football whose organization just threw in the white flag by trading away their remaining halfway decent WR, then be my guest. I'm not so easily impressed.
