A bit of a surpirse, I think this means that they have 21 days to activate, release or place him on IR.

Remember the days when we were desperate to have him in the game just to have a deep threat? Ah those were the times, weren't they?

Interesting to hear. Would love to have Chad Jackson on the 53, if at all possible, 'though I don't wish injury on anyone. I still think he'll wind up on IR as a "healthy-ish stash," but we'll just have to see.

linky goodness, please?

I still say that Jackson will take Gaffney's place. I realize there's some risk to that as Gaffney is more ready to contribute if injuries hit but with Gaffney not seeing the field much anymore and Washington playing on ST, that's the move I expect in a few weeks.

Re:Also Eddie Jackson at practice

Also eddie jackson at practice...nice...

Present at the media portion and participating are not always one in the same. If he participates then the clock will start. Same with the other Jackson. Bill did say in his Monday PC that if they activated anyone he would let them know. All things being equal from a "healthy" standpoint, they may want to test these guys out before starting the clock on Seymour and Brown. To see if they are/or can remain healthy through a couple of weeks of practice and gauge whether or not they can provide something in the system worth a roster space. I think they know if the other two are healthy they can.

I still think that Jackson very likely takes Washington's spot.

Or possibly Gafney's, but Washington seems to have similar responsibilities to what Jackson would have.

I am guessing Jackson won't be activated until after week 9. That is a bye week. So that gives him four weeks of practice before he is actually able to play a game. Considering he has never had a training camp and he needs to probably get acclimated to the offense, the Pats probably would like him to practice as much as possible before he starts playing.

I think that's a valid observation. Washington and Gaffney, take notice & step it up.
Just a nit, I believe that the Pats have to 'activate' hiim within 21 days.

Two reasons why i think this unlikely.

1. WRs are expected to "break out" (if they are ever to do so) in their 3rd year.
But CJ would have missed almost all of his first two.
His rookie contract would run out before his scheduled "breakout".

2. Knowing #1, his agent has already huffed and puffed about a union action
should there be a bogus IR.

I'd be surprised if Gaffney goes anywhere soon. Despite PatsFans.com conjecture of KW's impending value (which makes sense), CJ overrides KW in talent, value, etc. KW is now Garrett Mills. Tons of talent, nowhere to go. Insurance policy.

i dont think gaffeny goes. he hasnt made big plays this season but is more reliable than chad jackson at this point in the season. i seriously doubt brady will have as much trust with jackson as with gaffeney.
and personally too i hope gaffeny stays. guy has worked hard to earn a spot on this roster and has made some critical 3rd down plays for us. iam not enamored by a player off the injury i havent seen when i know someone is doing well right now. no need to change the chemistry.

Nah to both. He'd be right on track and they both get paid either way. He is still a commodity in the league, despite PatsFans impatience.

I know that this is negative but there is a chance that some WR could get seriously injured in the next 3 weeks, even including Chad at practice. BB knows that the decision does not get made now.

I would really really hate to see a Pats WR get picked up by WR weak SD.

if his agent has made some noise then iam SURE BB will put him on IR.

Washington hasn't done anything all year. Gaffney is a wily veteran. If I have to choose between Jackson and Washington for a "potential" guy, I take Jackson.

I think some people overestimate Washington's value. He's rarely, if ever, on the field. Gaffney is on the field quite a bit.

Brady forced passes to Jackson when he merely resembled the corps we have now. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. As a PatsFan, think Watson last year, to watch Brady force passes into someone can be painful. But, it shows, if nothing else, MORE than confidence.
