He's playing behind some talented players, like Rodney, Sanders, and Wilson.
The Patriots defense takes time to learn. Especially when he worked at corner in training camp, but more at safety lately.
He's a rookie! Give him time....

I know all this, but he's already well behind where ***ante $amuel and Eugene Wilson were at this point in their careers. This is panning out more like a Tebucky Jones 1st rounder. Could be our Worst First of the Belichick Era. At least it makes me feel better about losing the #32 pick next April.

Off with his head!
:)

he's made of glass!

and not that nice optical glass either, but some rough broken shards from a broken down urban playground

People were saying the same thing about Warren and about Watson after much longer than the first six games.

Give him time. Sanders didn't come on immediately either, and he's doing fine now.

The guy has been doing exactly what he has been asked to do! He has been a factor in the kicking game and has played a few snaps here and there in the sub packages. This pick was made with an eye on the future. Harrison is getting old and Wilson is going to be a free agent. No one said when the pick was made that this guy was going to be a starter or even an impact defense player this year. Give him time!

I have to think he is poking a stick in the eye of the people that want to make sweeping judgements with little info.

Blah. The team right now is a lot deeper than it was four years ago when Samuel and Wilson were rooks. Wilson didn't have three established safeties to beat out, rather he was kind of thrown into the starting FS spot. Many posters criticized Samuel all the way up from his rookie year until the beginning of the 2006 season.

6-0, we have to find faults with someone. Damn that Asante, he's already has three picks.

It's been a while, the sarcasm on the Planet is usually much less subtle. lol

The official this thread is PREMATURE announcement.

BM isn't even going to see the field except on maybe some nickel and dime situations.
It is foolish to pronounce judgment on a rookie that isn't getting minutes.
BM is stuck behind experienced veteran dbs on a team that is winning with experenience as much as with talent.

This is ridiculous. There's so many things wrong with this argument that I'm not sure where to start except maybe...

Wilson and Asante had far less depth to break through than Meriweather.

It's been 6 games.

Wilfork and Watson had done about the same, or less, at this point in their rookie years.

It's really not even worth the time of anyone on the thread to reply to this so I'm not really sure why I am. Shakadave, this is the kind thread that's either trolly or short-sighted or meant to stir up sh!t. It is a thread you'll get killed for, and rightfully so. Pathetic.

Unless, of course, you're joking. In which case, Bravo. You got me. 'Course I just woke up 5 minutes ago, but still...well played.

So, by your conclusions, any rookie who isn't contributing after 6 games is a bust? Man, how stupid were the Browns to draft Brady Quinn! He hasn't had a TD pass all season!!

Wow?????????????

Umm,

Wow??????????

And, I would like this thinking to be part of a complete umbralla plan where the pats 1) get rid of Seymore 2) Use no Punter 3) Bring mangini back 4) trade Brady for Trent Green 5) Use terpentine instead of water for coffee 6) move the pats franchise to LA.

Those would be great moves.

Off with his head.

I say we cut Meriweather, he's a bust for sure. Is Duane Starks still available? I know he's a corner, but with talent like that, I think we can easily convert him to SAFETY.

calling Ty Poole

or maybe Donovan Darius? he can fill us in with vital information that will help us against the Dolphins this weekend!

I think Meriweather is good.

The extra split second it takes for a rookie to figure out what is going on makes it difficult to come in right away.

At least he has a good attitude. He is a good tackler which is more attitude than anything. I think he'll play a lot in Miami if the Pats get a decent lead.

FTR, shakadave is NOT joking. This is not satire.

Carry on...

Really?

I can't believe that anyone would be loony enough to actually think this. I has to be satire.

While I think it's too early to label him a bust, if he ends up being one, I will go easy on BB and P. Reason: They spent this whole decade picking at or near the end of every round. The fact that they've hit as successfully as they have, far outweighs the occasional miss. Again, I'm not saying he's a miss yet either.

the kids a bust......who cant walk into the patriots locker room and start as a rookie. jeez, we've got the worst team in the league and he still can't break in.

keep the faith Brandon, we tend to get depleted at DB most seasons.
