it was 1998. Marino got crippled 3/4 the way through the season, and damon huard was put in as qb. he won them enough games to get them into the playoffs.
january 1999. jaguars and dolphins in the playoffs. they start washed up marino in favor of the guy who got them to the playoffs (think of it like belichick starting bledsoe in the playoffs instead of brady in 01).
marino stinks up the joint so bad, throwing pick after pick, untill his defense gives up late in the 2nd quarter. i was screaming the whole time to give the ball to huard. when the score gets into the high 60's, yes, the 60's (due to marinos handful of picks, fumbles, and a tired defense who had been out on the field the whole day), they finally put huard in, in the fourth quarter. he scores 2 tds quickly, and the miami defense shuts the jags down. but it was too late. the record blowout was already done. and miami has been CURSED ever since.
just think- what would have happened to the pats if bledsoe was alowed to stink up the joint after brady got them to the playoffs??

needless to say, i have been a pats fan since that day. i live and breathe pats now.

Yea, that would have been like BB starting Bledsoe in the SB versus the Rams....emagine some Bledsoe fans were actually crying for that too.

62-10, a great game and a fitting Marino legacy

I'm glad you saw the light. Patriot converts are always welcome.:) It's interesting to think what would have happened to Miami if they had simply given the job to Huard so many years ago. He obviously is a capable professional QB. Dolphin history would have been so much different, so much better.

Dude I think you were traumatized that day because you memory is seriously flawed. Huard didn't do crap either. He was 5 of 16 for 45 yards and didn't even sniff the end zone.

yeah, i guess i dont remember it right. odd. it was a traumatizing game. oh well, screw the phins, GO PATS!

Welcome aboard!!! You"re sure not the only bandwagoner here.

screw you, im no bandwagoner. the pats sucked ass in 2000 when i became a fan, and i had no reason to suspect they would not suck ass in the future. i grew up going to pats games with my old man in the old piece of crap stadium, when tickets were as easy to come by as bruins tickets are now. for some reason i just always liked miami, dont know why.

Come on in and have some kool aid.

I think it's terrible when a person switches teams in professional sports.
As a fan I can say that i've enjoyed the good times but the bad times were significant as well I remember one game for instance when we were playing the Chiefs.
Well Bledsoe throws a int right at the end of the game when we were making like a 10 point comeback and i stomped my box spring mattress i think i was like 16, anyhow my point is from that moment on I said as long as my team is competitive rather victorious or not I will fully support them.
Since a young boy I've looked down on bandwagoners and will continue to do so here.
Your team has arguably a high draft pick and two number 2's they have a shot at basically any player they want.
In a few years they'll be loaded with young talent, be patient don't abandon them.
That's just some soft crap right there.

Yeah, I'm sure you'd be here if we had the Lions last few records.

I've rooted for the Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots my whole life (35). At one time or another I've kinda half-rooted for other teams when my team stunk. There's no shame in celebrating excellence.

The Bruins have sucked of late, the Celtics may finally get off the suck slide after 20 years and it's good times to be a Pats and Sox fan. Back in the 70's and 80's everything was Celtis/Bruins/Red Sox. The Patriots were the forgotten 4th brother besides the run in 85/86.

Call me a bandwagoning fair weather fan, but i tend to follow a winner much more intently than a perennial loser. I guess that's a good thing when your a fan of all 4 NE Pro-Sports teams.

I guess the difference may be never wanting to see the Lakers, Canadiens and Yankees win another title.

For that matter I never want to see the Steelgirls, Clots, ****boys, Raipers, Packperps, Redforeskins and 49farts win again.

And I'm NOT being juvenile!

Guys try to stay in the game and watch The C's lose 18 in a row, you will cheer another winning team to win the championship.

I'm sorry. There is no such thing as switching allegiances as a fan. If a fan claims to have switched allegiances, then they were never a fan in the first place.

Case in point.....I grew up a huge Bruins fan. The B's as we all know have sucked for the better part of a decade now if not longer. I recently moved to NC where they actually have a decent hockey team (albeit the old Hartford Whalers....whodathunkit). I joke with people that I may become a Hurricanes fan as it's very difficult to even follow the B's right now.

Now I might go to a few Canes games and cheer for them because they are the home team but if the Black and Gold comes to town, even if they are in last place and still owned by that idiot JJ, I will cheer for the away team.

If you were in my spot and cheer for the Canes in that situation, I'd say you were never a B's fan......just somebody that rode on the bandwagon back in the glory days oh so long ago. Or some clown of a kid that cheered for them because your dad the diehard did and then you realized it was a lost cause......still, not what I would call a true fan.

Rant over.....

As a Pats fan my whole life, I want the Pats fan base to grow and spread as broadly and rapidly as possible. I welcome fans into our big tent and hold no grudges no matter who people rooted for in the past. The more the merrier. Their children will become "born and bred" Pats fans as a result, and one day, say in 20 years, the Patriot fan base will rival those of the Cowboys and the Stellers, the 2 greatest fan bases in the NFL.

hey, if the guy got disgusted and completely changed teams...oh well...

i had rather have him then some other fans that post in some boards (not refering to this one)

You MUST BE a chick. Dude's don't jump ship like that.

You're welcome to join Patriots Nation but the rules state that you must give up your seat whenever a REAL fan enters the room. Unless you're a hot chick. The rules for hot chicks trump all other rules.

Sad that you would abandon your team. Don't you know that winning and losing goes in cycles? Some teams have had those winning cycles more than others, but the losing cycles happen to everyone. The Pats used to be terrible for many years and they will be terrible again. Don't be a front-runner. All the great teams eventually turn to dust. When the Pats suck again will you abandon them too?

i find it hard to believe that no one has pointed out the misguided premise in this guys post. While marino wasdone after his injury bledsoe was not.

while brady led the team in 2001, going 11-3 as a starter, he was injured in the AFC championchip game in Pittsburgh and Bledsoe played well in a close win. (those were the days... all nail-biters).

Any lesser coach probably would have started Bledsoe in the Super Bowl vs St. Louis. But not the genius Belichik.......who took all speculation away by announcing Brady the starting QB soon after the game.
