Since we are not the players or the team lets look ahead 3 weeks.
New England at Indianapolis.

Of course you want YOUR New England Patriots to come into this game a
perfect 8-0.
With Indy having their bye week already the most they can play coming into that game is 7 contests.

So, the question is, do you want Indy to come in at 7-0, 6-1 or 5-2.

If you HAD to pick one of these, which would it be.

Unbeaten.

That will be the Super Bowl come early.

Pats 8-0
Indy 7-0
Buffalo 1-7
NY Rats 1-7
Fins 0-8

When we win we get...

1. Total humiliation of Indy
2. Only remaining undefeated record
3. Almost assured of a first round bye and homefield through playoffs;

and best of all....

4. We clinch the AFC East halfway through the season :rocker:

(although #1 is pretty close to Best of All!!)

unbeaten, lessens excuses, a bit...LOL

While in my heart I would really like to see the Dolts lose as many games as possible; and then still lose to the Pats.......

thinking with my head I have to say that tactically it would be best if they come in undefeated.

If someone else beat them, especially in the last game before they play Pats then it means two things

1. we don't get a chance to break their psyche and they wont be coming in overconfident.

2. Whoever beat them will have found a bunch of weaknesses to exploit; maybe some of the same ones BB was going to use. They will have pointed them out to the Dolts and the Dolts will have an opportunity to fix them in practice. The Dolts may not be all that; but they aren't stupid either.

I want Indy to lose as much as possible. Anything to prevent them getting the #1 seed or if we're really lucky they're #3 and have to play a wild card game

I'm not sure we would clinch the division. Buffalo has already had a bye and would at worst be 1-7 after week nine. We would be 9-0. So theoretically, We could lose the rest of the games, while Buffalo could win the rest, including beating us. So, the head to head tie breaker would be even and the next tie breaker is division record. I'm not sure how this tiebreaker or the other tiebreakers would shake out. So, I'm not 100% sure we would clinch the division at that time.

5-2
Are we getting a little nuts around here?

Are you really saying that you want it to be that we have only a 1 game lead after beating them, or that we are behind a game if we lose to them?

Hello? McFly?
They could actually beat us. It is not impossible.
If the Colts come in 5-2, and beat us, then we run the table we get home field.
If they come in 7-0 and beat us, they must lose 2 for us to have any chance at home field.

Wow. Ive been one of the people not afraid to talk about the possibility of an undefeated season, but it would be the height of arrogance to hope that home field advantage comes down to that game alone, and not hope that we have a 2 game lead going into it.

I suppose it would be more fun to have both teams undefeated for the game.
I dont care though. I'm worried about the fun that starts after week 17, and ends in February with red, white and blue confetti in the air and Bob Kraft stumbling through his speech while holding a large trophy with a football on named after some dead Italian guy.

They can't lose enough - I want Jax to beat them this week.

Of course I want the Colts unbeaten until we play them. The pure hype and granduer that will accompany this game will make it THE marquee game of the regular season.

Playoff implicating games at the end of the year will be exciting for the scattered franchises that compete in them, but nothing will compare to the Nov. 4th showdown between the unequivocally 2 best teams in the sport.

The only thing that will make us forget that game will be looking forward to the AFCCG in the winning teams stadium. I hope its in Foxboro, but wouldn't be surprised if it's in INDY.

This rivalry may have actually surpassed Yanks-Sox and we just haven't realized or recognized it yet. I think by this years AFFCG it may become undeniable.

It's good to see you to stop by Erdo, love your site (if this is actually you).

In the fetal position sucking their thumbs.

I want them to lose as many games as possible. I want to be guaranteed that, if we play them in the playoffs, it is in NE. I want them to have to play a game in the first round. I want them to play their playoff games on the road. I want NE's biggest competition to have as many roadblocks as possible.

You're right. I stand corrected. Plus, the Jets and Bills play each other again on October 28, so, barring their game endng in a tie, one of them comes in minimally with 2 wins.

Just ran through the schedule scenarios and, assuming I calculated correctly (A HUGE ASSUMPTION mind you), the earliest Division-clinching date for us, based on the Pats being undefeated and Jets/Bills losing as many as possible, is November 18th at Ralph Wilson Stadium. (That win puts us at 10-0 and unmatchable)

Don't know why I'm posting this.

I'm usually one of those people who hates this kind of speculation stuff....maybe my gas pipes are leaking again.

I want to see the Colts undefeated, that way we can be the first team to ruin their win streak.

When I think of this game, I think of two undefeateds slugging it out to that song from Karate Kid.

"You're the best... a-rooooouund, nothin's gunna ever keep ya down!"

Admit it, it's stuck in your heads now!! :rocker:
