An asinine suggestion summarily SHOT DOWN by people who know, as some of us do, what the Hell they're talking about. So much for the "delicate balance" of the defense.

Wait a minute. Is there REALLY a "trade seymour" crowd? In all seriousness?

Genuine question - are you guys kidding? This has been a fairly consistent topic on a couple of threads for a few weeks now. The theory goes like this:

1) The Pats D with Jarvis Green has been terrific.

2) Seymour hasn't been the same since signing his big deal.

3) Seymour is dogging it.

4) Warren surpassed him last year.

5) Let's trade Seymour for a 2nd and a 4th.

No joke. People SERIOUSLY believe this. And clearly they - or someone who shares their delusion - believes it because now people are e-mailing Dale and Holley and asking them about it. They have a special audio-clip they play to smack down those e-mails and Bruschi laughed at the idea. Didn't even address the issue because it was so absurd. Idiots.

I think there is a contingency that feel that Seymour has become too injury prone. Personally, he is such a force that he makes everyone around him so much better because teams scheme to stop him.

I wouldn't mind after the season to dangle Jarvis Green and see if we can get a high first day pick for him.

oh wow...this is the first time i have ever heard of a Trade one of the best DL in the leage crowd.

That's not entirely true. These geniuses think Seymour is, like Maroney, too injury "PRONED."

Oh, I almost forgot - one of their most tightly-held tenets is that replacing Jarvis Green with Seymour would disturb the "chemistry" on defense. LOLOLOLOLOL!

Wow, IMHO, trading Seymour is a completely awful idea. Especially after watching the Cowboy RB's average 7.0 yards per carry against us last week.

Do you thave a link?

I do have to wonder if the Pats would have stopped the rushing offense of dallas if seymour was in. As has always been stated seymour is better at stopping the run.

time will tell tho.

you keep seymour.

Let me echo this and add to it. "YOU KEEP SEYMOUR AND YOU NEVER EVER ENTERTAIN THIS RIDICULOUS IDEA AGAIN." Seymour is arguably our ONLY (defensive) Hall of Famer from the entire Super Bowl run. He is a force to be reckoned with. He is the ONE guy on D that other teams actually have to gameplan for - and do so consistently. Like...EVERY TIME THEY PLAY US.

I'll bite.

Maroney has been pretty injury prone so far.

His injuries have outweighed any productivity he's had in his short career. That's a fact.

Seymour, though somewhat prone to injury has been HUGELY productive when healthy and easily one of the top 2-3 players at his position.

The two players can't even be compared.

Maroney isn't a top 20 player at his position right now. Can he be? Sure...the talent is there.

He needs to protect himself from the injury bug, stop dancing around the line of scrimmage and AVOID some contact now and then.

our D with Green has not been terrific. started off great but last 2-3 weeks..slowed down HUGE

Warren has not surpassed Seymour. 1 season compared to Seymours many? after watching Dallas..Warren is still developing and not at Sey's level yet

Actually, I was only ridiculing the fact that at least one of the Seymour/Maroney hating crowd consistently employed the phrase "injury-PRONED."

I love Warren as much as anyone, and I agree with those who say he was our best DL last season. He has improved a lot and is a really valuable playmaking, ELITE DL. But there's a difference between his production while Seymour gets double- and triple-teamed and Seymour's production in that same scenario.

Luckily for us, all three of our top DL are excellent, and our #4 and #5 aren't too shabby, either.

No. Green is a terrific pass rusher, and we need quality backups for the 3-4. If the DLine can't get it done, the 3-4 falls apart in a hurry.

We gave Green a very good contract a few years ago for a good reason -- he's a terrific playmaker who is willing to be a backup. So no thanks, let's keep him.

Listen to the audio tape on Wilfork yesterday on 'EEI. he talks about Green being the team's best pass rusher. He also sings Seymour's praises.

This team will be completely frightening when Seymour gets back. Anyone saying Seymour won't have a massive impact on the defense and be a massive improvement over Green (no insult to Jarvis, who we all appreciate) is on crack. This defense will be flat-out insane when Seymour returns.

Thankfully people with these ludicrous ideas are NOT running the patriots. Just imagine if they were, wow. Richard Seymour is one of the best DL in the league and will remain so for a while. Thank you and have a nice day
