CLEVELAND -- David Ortiz almost quit the ALCS between Boston and Cleveland due to an injured knee, the Dominican slugger told ESPNdeportes.com on Monday. "After Saturday's game, my right knee was so swollen that I feared I wouldn't play again for the rest of the series," Ortiz said before Game 3 on Monday night at Jacobs Field in Cleveland.

"When one has been playing this game for a long time, you learn to deal with pain," Ortiz said. "This is no time for crying. But I really want this season to be over to undergo knee surgery."

The bottom half of the lineup is why the sox are down 2-1, is it really to much to ask giving Ellsbury the nod over crisp who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a freakin boat! If anything you will be giving your future center fielder some much needed playoff experience.

I agree this series the 3-5 hitters have been great, and the rest have sucked (except Youk). We need to try to get a spark fast. I like the fact that Tito is sticking with Wake because if Wake comes out and pitches good it might fire up the rest of the team to get of their butts and do something.

It's clear Big Papi is in a great deal of pain, trying to play through it.

His batting stance is a lot taller, like he can't really crouch and pounce like he usually does.

I dont get the thought process of people not wanting to put in Ellsbury, his defence is just as good if not better then crisp and has more speed and can cover more ground as well as being more of a threat on the bases. He can get put in and go 1-16 and it would still be a improvement over coco, were is the down side for letting the kid get a chance to do something?

I hope im wrong and coco goes off tonight at the plate, because i already know this manager is going to stick with crisp in the lineup atleast for this game. But i know one thing the steam went right out of that sox dugout last night when he wasted a bases loaded at bat and grounded into a double play in the second, the guy is plain killing the flow of this lineup.

Just like i thought, no Ellsbury in tonights lineup, i hope coco can hit tonight as he has pretty decent numbers against this guy pitching but his swings have looked god awfull in this series.

Hope wakefield saves us today. Knucle is the way to go!

They look dead tonight.......... Hitting. Wake tried to hold on, but he got bashed in the 5th, and got yanked. This team has no soul.............

Last night was the perfect time to shake things up, and it does not surprise me at all nothing was done. I cant wait to hear holly take some flak today for thinking that sticking with this lineup order, and players was the right thing to do. I can still understand not using beckett but there is no excuse for continuing to use this lineup were over half the lineup are almost a guaranteed out.
