What Moss could have an argument for is that, in his prime, he was probably the best game changing receiver in nfl history. All things being equal, I may take the '98-'03 Moss over Jerry Rice.

I can't believe this is even a discussion. Did you people not see Jerry Rice play in his prime???? This is a guy who scored 22 touchdowns in 12 games and also averaged 115 yards a game receiving in a season.

Rice's numbers are superior, his accomplishments in terms of contributing to championships, MVPs, Pro Bowls, All Decade teams etc are superior and Moss' attitude issues alone are enough to drop him below Rice even if everything else was equal.

Moss will have to repeat his numbers of his first ten seasons of his career for the next 10 years to be in Jerry Rice territory. That will be impossible for him to do as he ages.

It's not even close.

He is BETTER than Jerry Rice, or anyone else to play the position, at least in talent.

OK, looking at Rice and Moss career stats, Moss would need 10 seasons of averaging about 80 balls for 1000 yards and 8 scores per year.

But, that's not counting what damage moss will do in the remaining 10 games of this season.

Jerry Rice may be the best athlete of all time in any sport.

Jerry Rice was the hardest working athlete of all time, with only Walter Payton coming close.

Jerry Rice was not the tallest, fastest, most talented, toughest or best handed. He was the hardest working.

A lot of this discussion depends on what you mean by best. If you mean statistically the best, than yes.

If you mean talent, then there are plenty of athletes in plenty of sports who are more naturally talented or at least equal.

Moss is capable of putting up the same numbers as Rice, but will he last as long without Rice's work ethic? Not likely.

Its closer than you think.

If Moss had played his heart out and worked hard like Rice his entire career Moss could very possibly be the better of the two.

Rice worked his ass off and was amazing but Randy is easily the most talented WR in NFL history.

You missed the point..I think most people have conceded Moss being unable to match Rice's career numbers. But you can argue that Moss, in his prime, was as an impactful a player as Rice. Remember in the years from '98-'03 he didnt have amazing QBs, yet he was still the best WR in the nfl. Ask the Packers, who dedicated their entier '99 Draft to DBs, if Moss had an impact.

You missed the point..I think most people have conceded Moss being unable to match Rice's career numbers. But you can argue that Moss, in his prime, was as an impactful a player as Rice.

As impactful? No. How many Superbowls did Randy help his team win in his prime? Jerry Rice is a Superbowl MVP.

Moss can't beat Jerry Rice in any area except physical talent and that means nothing. It doesn't matter how high you can jump or how fast you can run if the guy who runs slower and can't jump as high is beating you on the field.

At the age of 40 Jerry Rice put 1200 receiving yards up on the board. That is incredible. Jerry Rice is in a class by himself. Period.
